Four spots across four classifications in the 42nd annual Boys’ Basketball NYS Far West Regionals will be up for grabs when qualifiers take place on Wednesday. Here is the breakdown of each contest:
CLASS A
EASTRIDGE LANCERS (19-4/Monroe County IV) vs. EAST HIGH EAGLES (21-2/RCAC Lower)
Scoring offense: Eastridge (71.7 PPG), East (80.8 PPG)
Scoring defense: Eastridge (61.0 PPG), East (60.6 PPG)
Current streak: Eastridge has won seven of eight; East has won eight straight.
How they got here: No. 3 seed Eastridge beat Greece Athena (63-56), Leadership Academy (56-38) and Irondequoit (52-43) to win the Class A1 title.
Top-seeded East (No. 4 NYSSWA) beat Wilson Magnet (67-41), Pittsford Sutherland (61-55) and NE Douglass (69-60) to win the Class A2 title.

History 101: This is the farthest Eastridge has advanced in a single postseason in program history. East is seeking its 10th regional appearance and first since 2014 when the Eagles finished as the state runner-ups.
What’s at stake: A spot in the NYS Far West Regional against the winner of the Section VI qualifiers between North Tonawanda and Health Sciences (No. 6 NYSSWA).
A 7 p.m. tip off is scheduled Wednesday at Edison Tech.
***From Section V: There will be 100-200 tickets available at the door for Wednesday’s Class A game between East and Eastridge. The respective schools will have 400 tickets apiece available for pre-sale. Very limited sales at the door.
CLASS B
GENEVA PANTHERS (19-4/Finger Lakes East) vs. AVON BRAVES (16-6/Livingston County II)

Scoring defense: Geneva (50.4 PPG), Avon (52.7 PPG)
Current streak: Geneva has won five straight; Avon has won three straight.
How they got here: Top-seeded Geneva (No. 25 NYSSWA) beat Palmyra-Macedon (61-56), Hornell (75-47) and Waterloo (60-55) to win the Class B1 title.
Top-seeded Avon beat Attica (79-39), Penn Yan (66-44) and Wayland-Cohocton (63-46) to win the Class B2 title.

History 101: Geneva is seeking its first regional appearance in program history. The Panthers fell to East High in the 2014 Class A Qualifiers, 61-48. Avon is coming off its first sectional title since 2009 when the Braves won NYS Class C title.
What’s at stake: A spot in the NYS Far West Regional against the winner of the Section VI qualifiers between Olean (No. 27 NYSSWA) and Allegany-Limestone (No. 13 NYSSWA).
An 8 p.m. tip off is scheduled Wednesday at Bloomfield High School.
CLASS C
LYONS LIONS (20-2/Wayne County) vs. CALEDONIA-MUMFORD RAIDERS (21-3/Livingston County III)
Scoring offense: Lyons (73.2 PPG), Caledonia-Mumford (72.5 PPG)
Scoring defense: Lyons (53.4 PPG), Caledonia-Mumford (51.9 PPG)
Current streak: Lyons has won 13 of 14; Caledonia-Mumford has won 11 of 12.
How they got here: Top-seeded Lyons (No. 10 NYSSWA) beat Pembroke (73-46), Geneseo (62-60) and Perry (46-45) to win the Class C2 title.
Top-seeded Caledonia-Mumford (No. 14 NYSSWA) beat Wheatland-Chili (85-54), Lyndonville (67-43) and York (72-43) to win the Class C3 title. The Raiders continued with a 58-53 victory over Marcus Whitman in the Class C Sub-Regional.

CLASS D
AVOCA TIGERS (22-1/Steuben County) vs. PRATTSBURGH VIKINGS (18-5/Steuben County)

Scoring defense: Avoca (42.9 PPG), Prattsburgh (59.3 PPG)
Current streak: Avoca has won 22 straight; Prattsburgh has won six of seven.
How they got here: Top-seeded Avoca (No. 4 NYSSWA) beat Mount Morris (103-57), Honeoye (73-27) and Genesee Valley (80-58) to win the Class D1 title.
No. 3 seed Prattsburgh (No. 15 NYSSWA) beat Chesterton Academy (88-61), Romulus (88-47) and Elba (72-64) to win the Class D2 title.

History 101: Both squads are seeking their fourth regional appearance in program history. Avoca last appeared in 1990 and finished as the state runner-ups. Prattsburgh last appeared in 2015 and fell to Section VI champion International Prep. This will be the second time Avoca and Prattsburgh will meet in the regional qualifiers. The Tigers defeated the Vikings, 71-65, in the 1988 Class D qualifiers.
What’s at stake: A spot in the NYS Far West Regionals against Section VI champion Sherman.
A 7 p.m. tip off is scheduled Wednesday at Bath-Haverling High School.
