Mark Schmidt and Dan Hurley meet again.

After rumblings of the matchup persisted all summer, St. Bonaventure and Connecticut are officially set to play in the Never Forget Tribute Classic on Dec. 11 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. A doubleheader, the event will also feature a women’s game between Geno Auriemma’s UConn powerhouse and the UCLA Bruins.

The Husky men compiled a 15-8 record last season, falling to Maryland in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. UConn lost leading scorer James Bouknight to the NBA but returns guard R.J. Cole, former Rhode Island forward and leading rebounder Tyrese Martin, big man Isaiah Whaley and sixth man Tyler Polley, among others.

Hurley opposed the Bonnies for six seasons as the head coach of Atlantic 10 rival Rhode Island. The Rams made the NCAA Tournament in Hurley’s final two seasons there, after which he was hired to replace Kevin Ollie in Storrs.
