By CHUCKIE MAGGIO The numbers, as always, can be distorted any way you’d like. For example: St. Bonaventure sophomore Alejandro Vasquez was one of five Atlantic 10 freshmen to average at least six points per game while playing under 20 minutes a contest since the 2015-16 season. Lamarr “Fresh” Kimble and the late Steve McElvene […]
St. Bonaventure will no longer be traveling to Mohegan Sun for the season-opening “Bubbleville” tournament. The Bonnies were scheduled to play Towson, Stephen F. Austin and Army from Nov. 25-27.
The Bonnies were, however, impacted by the Vermont Catamounts announcing Sunday night that the school’s athletic programs would not return to play until Dec. 18 after discussions with their state’s health leaders. The Bonnies and Catamounts were scheduled to play on Dec. 1 in Mohegan Sun’s “Bubbleville.”

The A-10 released its conference slate on Wednesday, with the Bonnies closing the 2020 calendar year at Rhode Island on Dec. 30 and traveling to Richmond to meet preseason favorite Richmond on Jan. 2 on CBS Sports Network. The road trip precedes a string of four home games in five games, including national TV games against George Washington and Richmond.
St. Bonaventure Bonnies picked to finish fourth in Atlantic 10; Lofton, Osunniyi land on all-conference teams
The Bonnies were picked to finish fourth in the league in the 2020-21 season by a panel of the league’s head coaches and select media members.
Not counting Jaren Holmes’s all-academic honor, the Bonnies garnered three all-conference spots in March; Lofton and Osunniyi were all-league selections, while Osunniyi also made the all-defensive squad. Only Saint Louis and Richmond return more A-10 award placements than SBU.
Vermont joins Stephen F. Austin and Towson as confirmed opponents for the multi-team event that will begin the 2020-21 college basketball season in Uncasville, Conn. St. Bonaventure and Siena are discussing playing their Franciscan Cup matchup there as both teams will already be in the bubble at the same time.
By CHUCKIE MAGGIO The 2020 Rhode Island Rams are acquiring a taste of how St. Bonaventure has lived for over a decade now. “No one wants to play us,” Cox told CBS Sports college basketball reporter Jon Rothstein on Friday. “It’s real simple.” The Bonnies can perennially relate. A “power conference” team hasn’t visited the […]
