St. Bonaventure added to its frontcourt Saturday, garnering a commitment from Morgan State transfer Chad Venning.
Venning, a 6-foot-10, 280-pound forward from Brooklyn, will have three years of eligibility remaining. He averaged 7.2 points, three rebounds and a block per game last season despite averaging just 13.8 minutes a contest. He shot 50.9 percent from the field, making seven of his nine field goal attempts and scoring a career-high 17 points in a win over South Carolina State on Jan. 10.
A Woodstock Academy alumnus (the same Connecticut prep school former Bonnie Izaiah Brockington attended), Venning was also offered by Manhattan, Marist and UMass before committing to Morgan State before the 2020-21 season.
