If Jaren Holmes returns to college next season, it will likely be for another school.
Verbal Commits reported late Friday night that Holmes, who scored 1,020 points over three seasons at St. Bonaventure, has entered the transfer portal. Holmes, who was eligible for an extra year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will graduate from Bona and be immediately eligible wherever he enrolls.
The Romulus Mich. native, who transferred to Bonaventure after playing the 2018-19 season at NJCAA Ranger College, averaged 13 points and five rebounds per game as a Bonnie. He was a team captain, an Atlantic 10 Second Team All-Conference member in 2020-21 and a three-time all-academic team selection.
Holmes led the Bonnies with 18 points in their 2021 NCAA Tournament game against LSU. He recorded 15 points and seven rebounds in their 2021 Atlantic 10 Tournament semifinal victory over Saint Louis. He tallied a career-high 38 points in a Jan. 6, 2021 triumph over Saint Joseph’s.
A sports media major, Holmes has expressed interest in sports broadcasting after his playing career.
