The St. Bonaventure men’s basketball team’s Atlantic 10 opener at George Washington on Thursday has been postponed due to COVID-19 issues, the league announced Tuesday.
George Washington also saw its game against Maryland-Eastern Shore on Dec. 22 postponed due to COVID protocols within the GW program. Bona’s last two games have now been called off due to the virus; its scheduled meeting with Northeastern last Wednesday was canceled due to protocols within Northeastern’s program.
The A-10 also announced in the same release that games that cannot be played due to positive COVID-19 tests will be postponed and attempted to be rescheduled at a later date. While the conference originally instituted a forfeiture policy that would impact the standings and league tournament seeding, forfeits would now apply only in the event of a team opting not to play the rescheduled game.
Bona’s next game is scheduled for Jan. 2 at Dayton. Dayton’s opener at Rhode Island was also postponed due to COVID-19, although it was not announced which program or programs returned positive tests. Dayton did practice Monday according to Dayton Daily News beat writer David Jablonski.
