St. Bonaventure filled an opening and finalized another matchup in its non-conference schedule on Thursday.
Loyola-Maryland will visit the Reilly Center on Dec. 8, the program announced, while the Bonnies have officially entered into a new home-and-home agreement with Northeastern University that begins in Boston on Dec. 22. The Huskies will make a return trip to the Reilly Center in the 2022-23 season.
Tavaras Hardy’s Greyhounds struggled to a 6-11 record last season. Cameron Spencer, a 6-foot-4 guard who averaged 10 points a game in 28 minutes in an all-rookie campaign in 2019-20, missed all but five games due to hip surgery. Star forward Santi Aldama will be difficult to replace; the 6-foot-11 Aldama entered the NBA Draft after averaging 21.2 points and 10.1 rebounds a night.
The Bonnies last hosted Loyola on Nov. 21, 2015, winning a 94-82 contest behind a combined 48 points from Marcus Posley and Dion Wright. The schools also met on Dec. 18, 2011, a 76-66 Bonaventure victory at the Reilly Center in which Demitrius Conger produced team highs in points (20) and assists (five).
Northeastern shared the regular season Colonial Athletic Association championship with James Madison last season before falling to Drexel in the CAA Tournament semifinal round. Leading scorer Tyson Walker has since transferred to Michigan State, but CAA Sixth Man of the Year Jahmyl Telfort and third leading scorer Shaquille Waters return to Bill Cohen’s roster.
Northeastern defeated St. Bonaventure at Matthews Arena in 2018 after Bona won at the Reilly Center the year prior.
