ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — Former Wayne Eagle Cameron Blankenberg – a versatile 6-foot-8 wing player – has signed a letter-of-intent to join the St. Bonaventure men’s basketball program, coach Mike MacDonald announced.
Blankenberg, a First Team Large School All-State selection who recently played for the Winchendon (Mass.) School, reclassified academically and has enrolled in the university to join the Bonnies in their current summer session on campus in preparation for the 2026-2027 season.
“We are thrilled to have Cameron join the Bonnies,” MacDonald said. “He comes from an accomplished basketball family and has a true passion for the game. He is a versatile athlete who can play multiple positions, and we believe he has a bright future ahead of him.”

Blankenberg, a native of Ontario Center, N.Y., has been a key contributor to the City Rocks AAU basketball program. He averaged 10.3 points and 9.7 rebounds on 40 percent three-point shooting in the EYBL Session I this spring.
Before helping Winchendon to a 22-6 record in the well-regarded NEPSAC last season, Blankenberg became the all-time leading scorer (1,674 points) at Wayne helping the Eagles to consecutive Section V Class A Championships and two NYSPHSAA state Final Four berths. In his sophomore and junior years, Blankenberg averaged 28.7 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for Wayne Central.
Cameron’s older brothers – Mason and Logan – played college basketball for Penn State-Behrend and Nazareth University, respectively, under two of Coach MacDonald’s former coaching colleagues – Dave Niland and Kevin Broderick.
Blankenberg joins fellow Rochester-area natives Mason Blackwood and Ryan Heath on the Bonnies’ 2026-27 roster.
