The St. Bonaventure men’s basketball team will play on Thanksgiving for the first time in their 101-year history this season, it was announced today.
Bonaventure announced in a press release it will open the 2020-21 season on Thanksgiving Eve, Nov. 25, against Towson as part of Mohegan Sun Arena’s “Bubbleville.” The Bonnies will take on Stephen F. Austin the next day, Nov. 26. Times and broadcast information will be announced at a later date.
The Vermont athletic department filled in another Bubbleville date when it announced in its release that the Bonnies and Catamounts will meet at Mohegan on Tuesday, Dec. 1. Game time and broadcast information for that matchup is also TBA.
Bubbleville, the team releases stated, “will house several events relocated and reimagined due to COVID-19 and provide a controlled environment with teams and event staff adhering to tribal, government, and NCAA health and safety protocols and testing requirements.”
Sources anticipate that St. Bonaventure will also add its annual Franciscan Cup rivalry game against Siena College to the trip itinerary, as the Saints will also be in the bubble. That game, however, has yet to be finalized as of Friday evening.
