Melkisedek Moreaux broadcasted the news himself using the ever-popular Instagram Stories feature.
“FIRST GAME BACK TOMORROW” was the caption to a St. Bonaventure-Vermont graphic on Moreaux’s Google homepage, followed by the raised hands emoji. After missing the first 10 games with a hyperextended knee, the 6-foot-6 forward will be in uniform for the first time since enrolling at SBU for the 2018-19 school year.
A native of Hamburg, Germany who moved to England at age 13, Moreaux was a junior college transfer after two seasons at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Neb. He averaged a double-double in his sophomore season at Northeast, scoring 14.2 points and grabbing 10.3 rebounds over 29 games and shooting 48 percent from the field. His rebounding ranked 16th among all National Junior College Athletic Association Division I players.
Bonnies coach Mark Schmidt said on his weekly radio show that senior forward LaDarien Griffin is also expected to return on Bona’s road trip. Moreaux and Griffin will give a 4-6 SBU squad 10 healthy scholarship players for the first time all season. Freshman guard Dominick Welch remains out indefinitely with a foot injury.
St. Bonaventure visits 8-3 Vermont on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. at Patrick Gym in Burlington.
