So much for the possibility of complacency.

Two days after earning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week, Jalen Pickett (Aquinas) took the court with Siena College in a non-league matchup at Hofstra University.

Pickett notched his first collegiate double-double Wednesday night netting 27 points and handing out 13 assists – both those numbers register as career highs in five games.

The 6-foot-4 guard connected on nine of 12 shots from the floor including two of three from long range. He finished with five rebounds, two steals and accounted for just one turnover.

In his last three games, Pickett is averaging 24.3 points and 9.7 assists. His assist to turnover rate for the season stands at 7:1.9. He is also averaging 17 points and 4.1 rebounds.

He has connected on 50 percent (42-of-84) of his shots from the floor including 18 of 42 (42.9) from long range.

Last night eclipsed his effort from January 21st when Pickett scored 25 points on 10-of-19 shooting and dishing seven dimes in an 80-69 loss to Lehigh.

Per KenPom, Pickett is ninth in the nation with an assist rate (metric that estimates the percentage of field goals made by a team on which a particular player collects an assist) of 41.9. His assist to turnover rate ranks him in the top 10 nationally among qualifying freshman in Division I. His 2.5 steals per game has Pickett tied for 23rd in the nation.

Siena travels to St. Bonaventure in a Franciscan Cup battle with the Bonnies on Wednesday, December 5th. That game can be seen on ESPN+.

Siena’s Saturday, January 5th meeting with Canisius will be carried on ESPN3. Their Friday, January 11th game at Marist will be televised on ESPNU.
