One year after a thrilling, overtime win over the Orange, St. Bonaventure’s men’s basketball team will play Syracuse again this coming season.
The teams will meet on Saturday, Dec. 29, in the Carrier Dome. It will be the third meeting between the schools in four seasons.
Last season on Dec. 22, the Bonnies earned a 60-57 decision from Syracuse in overtime. It was their first-ever win in the Carrier Dome and first win over the Orange since 1981.
St. Bonaventure, which finished 26-8 last season and made the NCAA Tournament, will return starters Courtney Stockard and LaDarien Griffin, both senior forwards. Stockard is the team’s top returning scorer after averaging 13.3 points per game last season. Griffin was co-winner of the Atlantic 10 most improved player award. The Bonnies will also welcome a talented group of six new players. St. Bonaventure is led by head coach Mark Schmidt, who enters his 12th season.
Last season, Syracuse finished 23-14 and reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament before falling to Duke. All five starters will return this coming season led by second team All-ACC junior guard Tyus Battle.
The tipoff time for the game has not been announced.
