St. Bonaventure senior point guard Jaylen Adams has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference basketball Co-Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 24, the A-10 announced. He shares the award with George Washington’s Patrick Steeves.
Adams led St. Bonaventure to a pair of wins last week as the Bonnies defeated Northeastern at home Dec. 20 and then topped Syracuse in overtime Dec. 22 at the Carrier Dome.
Over the two games, Adams averaged 19 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. He made 55 percent of his shots from the field including 5-8 (.620) from three-point range and also was 13-14 at the free throw line.
Adams scored a game high 23 points at Syracuse, going 4-6 from long range, and also grabbed a career high nine rebounds. His performance sparked the Bonnies’ first win ever at the Carrier Dome and first victory over Syracuse since 1981.
St. Bonaventure is 10-2 and has won seven games in a row heading into the start of A-10 play this weekend. The Bonnies will host UMass Dec. 30 at 2:30.
Adams has now played in six games since returning from an ankle injury that forced him to miss the first six games of the year. He is averaging 18.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. Adams is 15-29 (.517) from three-point range.
