St. Bonaventure junior guard Jaylen Adams has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference basketball co-Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 4, the A-10 announced. He shares the award with La Salle’s B.J. Johnson.
Last week, Adams led the Bonnies to home wins over Siena and Buffalo. Over the two games, he averaged 28.0 points, 6.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. He was 18-33 (.545) from the field including 8-16 (.500) from three-point range. Adams also made 12 of 14 free throw attempts.
In the Bonnies’ 81-74 win over Siena on Nov. 30, Adams scored 27 points with five assists. In Saturday’s win over Buffalo, he scored 29 points and added eight assists, four rebounds and four steals. Adams made nine of 15 shots from the field against the Bulls including 5-9 from three-point range.
For the season, the Baltimore, Md., native leads the Bonnies and ranks second in the A-10 in scoring at 22.3 points per game. He is also second in the conference in assists (6.1 per game) and three-point field goals (3.0 per game) and fourth in steals (2.4).
This is Adams’ third career A-10 Player of the Week award. He earned the weekly honor twice last season, when he was a first team All-Conference selection.
St. Bonaventure, which has won four straight games, will visit Hofstra on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. tipoff. The Bonnies are 5-2.
