DAYTON DRIVES DOWN I-75 TO TAKE ON CINCINNATI
Dayton (1-1) will play its third game in five days when it takes on Cincinnati (1-0) Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. ET at Fifth Third Arena. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Ohio with Tommy Gelehrter on play-by-play and Betsy Ross with commentary. It can be viewed on Time Warner Cable on SD Analogue 29/Digital 309 and HD1309. The game will also air on 1660 Information Radio with Barney Sentner and Shane White. The Flyers are coming off a 61-51 road loss to 2011 WNIT champions Toledo on Nov. 13 — 151 miles north of Dayton on I-75 and now travel to Cincinnati, 55 miles south of Dayton on I-75.
SERIES INFORMATION
This will be the 48th meeting between Dayton and UC, making it the second longest rivalry for both the Bearcats and Flyers. The longest for UC is Louisville (64 games) and for UD is Xavier (59 games). Dayton leads the all-time series against Cincinnati, 24-23. The Flyers have won the last three meetings, including last year’s 70-59 victory at UD Arena on Dec. 2, 2010. UD is 11-13 when playing on the road against UC.
DAYTON DETAILS
Senior Patrice Lalor leads the Flyers in scoring (12.5 ppg) and assists (4.0 apg), while senior Wooden Watch candidate Justine Raterman is averaging a double-double with 10.0 ppg and a team-high 10.5 rpg. Raterman also leads the Flyers in minutes played per game (29.0). Senior Casey Nance leads the Flyers in blocked shots with 2.5 per game. In its two games, UD (1-1) is averaging 60.0 ppg while allowing opponents just 49.5 ppg. The Flyers are also +5.5 in rebounding margin after two games.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Last season the Bearcats were 9-20 overall and 2-14 in Big East action. Cincinnati lost its leading scorer Shareese Ulis (13.7 ppg) to graduation. Assist leader Bjonee Reaves is back for her senior season. She had four assists in UC’s season opener against IPFW which the Bearcats won 74-42. Senior Chanel Chisholm recorded her first career double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds in the victory over the Mastadons. Three other Bearcats also scored in double-figures: sophomore Dayeesha Hollins (17 points), freshman Alyesha Lovett (14 points)and sophomore Kayla Cook (10 points). Dayton and Cincinnati both played Northern Kentucky in preseason exhibition games this season. The Flyers downed the Norse 88-34 on Nov. 1 and UC edged NKU 72-66 on Nov. 5.
DAYTON’S LAST TIME OUT
2011 WNIT Champion Toledo jumped out to a 10-0 lead and pulled off a 61-51 upset of Dayton on Nov. 13 at the Rockets’ Savage Arena. Justine Raterman was just shy of a double-double for the Flyers with a team-high 13 points and nine rebounds. Patrice Lalor was the only other Dayton player to score in double figures with her 10 points. She also led UD with four assists. De’Sarae Chambers had a team-high three steals to go along with her seven points and seven rebounds.

The Flyers have nine days between games after taking on Cincinnati on Nov. 16 and not playing again until Connecticut’s World Vision Classic in Storrs, Conn. Nov. 25-27. Dayton opens the tournament against Buffalo on Friday, Nov. 25 at 5 p.m. ET in Gampel Pavilion. The Flyers play Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday at 5 p.m. and UConn on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. The game against Connecticut marks the 700th in Jim Jabir’s head coaching career.
