Oregon 77, Duquesne 75
EUGENE, Ore. – Garrett Sim led four players in double figures with 20 points as Oregon survived a late rally to defeat Duquesne 77-75 in the quarterfinal of the College Basketball Invitational presented by Zebra Pen.
The Dukes, who were down six with under two minutes left, had a chance to tie the game when Sean Johnson drew a foul on a 3-point attempt with 1.5 seconds remaining. Johnson, a 71.4 percent free throw shooter, missed the first, made the second and intentionally missed the third. UO’s Joevan Catron, who had 14 points and 11 rebounds, corralled the rebound as time expired.
Bill Clark, whose 3-pointer with 1:55 left and layup with 10 seconds to go cut Oregon’s lead from six to one, finished with a team-high 19 points. Johnson had 13 and senior Damian Saunders who – like Clark – was playing in his final game, added 11 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots.

How fitting that the Dukes season ends on missed free throws. Been their achilles heel all year.
