ENID, OK — Braedon Reina (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) connected on a two-run home run to pull Monroe Community College within one run, but the Tribunes did not get any closer.

MCC (38-10) dropped a 9-4 decision to Frederick (MD) in an elimination game of the 2026 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II World Series, Monday at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.

With the loss, Monroe’s season comes to an end.

Reina fouled off a 2-2 pitch before taking Frederick starter Ethan Duff deep to left center field.

The home run was Reina’s second in three days and sixth this season. He finished 2-for-5 in the game.

Michael Sardou (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili), who worked a one-out walk, scored on the play as MCC made it a 4-3 game in the third inning.

Frederick (37-14) tacked on a run in the fourth before a Clayton Dorsey grand slam in the eighth put the game out of reach.

Aidan Gallagher (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay East Fishkill) drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the first, stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch.

Thomas Woodridge (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) gave MCC an early lead with an RBI groundout that scored Gallagher.

The Tribunes left runners on second and third in the sixth. Then in the seventh with runners on first and second, Frederick shortstop Jack Clarke took away a hit when he ranged behind the bag at second and made the throw to first to end the inning.

Jaden Sherwood (Batavia, N.Y./Notre Dame-Batavia) struck out three over five innings of relief work. The sophomore right-hander allowed one run on five hits and one walk.

Miguel Matos (Rochester, N.Y./East High) was 2-3 with a walk and a run scored. Zane Barron (Ormond Beach, FL/Seabreeze) went 2-3 with a walk.

Tanner Holmes (Allenford, ON/Owen Sound District) contributed an RBI. Aaron Reina (Rochester, N.Y/Churchville-Chili) singled and walked.

Sardou drew four walks in the game.

The Tribunes were making their 11th World Series appearance and fourth since 2016 under head coach Dave Brust.

Frederick of Region 20 advances to face Iowa Central Community College. That game is scheduled for Tuesday at 10 AM.
