Ben Braymer figured out the Buffalo Bisons lineup on Saturday afternoon.
Braymer, who entered the matinee with an 0-2 record against Buffalo and 8.84 ERA in all road appearances this season, was in control for five innings. The lefthander (4-7) allowed just four baserunners – two hits and two walks- and struck out three batters, including major league rehabber Cavan Biggio.
Daniel Palka and Nick Banks provided the power, each homering in Rochester’s fourth shutout victory of the season. The Red Wings won 4-0 in front of 4,223 observers at Sahlen Field.

Just one of Buffalo’s hits over the first seven innings left the infield. Braymer threw 3.2 hitless frames before Josh Palacios’s line drive to center, while Logan Warmouth reached safely on a bunt down the third base line in the fifth. Tyler White and Juan Graterol gave the Bisons baserunners in the seventh on a softly-hit infield single and a line drive that ricocheted off pitcher Bryan Bonnell and into foul territory, respectively.
Bonnell and Alberto Baldonado combined for the last two outs of the seventh. They, along with Kyle McGowin, Diego Moreno and Aaron Barrett compiled another shutdown bullpen appearance. McGowin struck out two of the three batters he faced in the sixth, while a game-ending double play negated Barrett’s leadoff walk to Tyler White in the ninth.
Keibert Ruiz batted 2-for-4 and began the scoring with a sharp RBI double, his second, in the top of the third inning. Palka scored two runs, the first when he smashed his 14th home run of the year off Thomas Hatch and the second on Banks’s first career Triple-A homer to provide ninth inning insurance.
The Red Wings ended a four-game losing streak. They play one more game in Buffalo at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday before returning home to host Lehigh Valley next week.
