Jalen Pickett (Aquinas/SPIRE Institute) has entered the transfer portal, Verbal Commits reported on Thursday.
The 2020 MAAC Player of the Year has one year of college eligibility remaining. Pickett averaged 12.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists this past season at Siena College. An ankle injury early in the season, forced the first team all-conference performer to miss three games. Pickett scored 15.1 points and handed out 6.0 assists in leading Siena to the MAAC title during his sophomore season (2019-20).

Pickett averaged 19.6 points and grabbed nine rebounds per game during his senior season at Aquinas. He earned all-tournament team honors as a junior when AQ won the Section V title under then head coach Mike Grosodonia. He was named MVP when Aquinas won the program’s first state title. He played one season at SPIRE Institute in Ohio after Aquinas.
Pickett becomes the third former Section V player to enter the portal following Gerald Drumgoole (Irondequoit) who announced he is leaving Pittsburgh in March, and Nigel Scantlebury (Greece Athena) who likewise is leaving Central Connecticut.
Pickett’s announcement also comes days after Kidtrell Blocker (Bishop Kearney) reopened his recruitment after originally committing to Georgia State.
