Batavia’s four-year, 1,000-plus point scorers Mackenzie Reigle and Bryn Wormley scored 18 and 10 points in the loss. Pal-Mac had a six-point lead heading into halftime. The Red Raiders used a 10-2 run in the final three and a half minutes of play to seal the victory.

Dansville’s Hannah LaPlant led the offense with 10 points, five steals and a rebound. Senior Arayana Young followed with seven points, 12 rebounds and two blocks. Brielle Caruso added six points while Sidney Stone contributed four points and eight rebounds. Madelyn Failla and Madison Lee each finished with two points for the Mustangs. Waterloo entered halftime with a 32-16 lead. Dansville has reached the sectional finals in each of the past four years. The loss to Waterloo was Dansville’s first sectional loss in three years.

South Seneca was led by three players that reached double figures in scoring. Allissa Fletcher registered 12 points, Logan Shaulis contributed 11 and Allison Kenyon put up 11 as well. Lea Fletcher tossed in eight points and team-point leader Emma Fletcher notched five. Hailey Crane finished with one point for South Seneca also. Batavia-Notre Dame held a 39-38 lead going into the fourth.

Elba claims its fifth straight sectional title. By halftime, Elba maintained a 20-point lead over Prattsburgh, 32-12. At one point in the game the Lady Lancers led by 39.

No. 2 GATES-CHILI (12-2) 71
No. 1 VICTOR (11-2) 68
Spartans rallied from five points down with two minutes left in regulation and beat Victor in overtime, 71-68, to earn the Class AA boys basketball title, their first since 2009. READ MORE.

An injury prevented Justus Ross-Simmons from playing during East High’s championship run a year ago. On Saturday night, the junior guard more than made up for his absence. With its season on the line, Jaden Courtmanche drained a buzzer-beating three to send the game to overtime and allowed Avon to pull away with its second straight sectional championship.
Michael Rowland gave Avon a one-point lead before halftime with a last second three of his own.
