Jacob Gilyard and Grant Golden combined for nine points to highlight a 12-2 Richmond run to close the game. Trailing 70-65 with 2:18 remaining on the clock, Golden sparked the rally with his only 3-pointer of the night. After teammate Tyler Burton converted one of two free throws, Golden connected on a pair of free throws of his own before feeding Burton for jumper to give the Spiders a lead they did not surrender. Gilyard added a trey of his own and a free throw for insurance.
Gilyard led four in double figures with 18 points on 6-of-14 shooting. Golden added 15. Burton and Nathan Cole had a 12 and 11 points respectively.
The Spiders connected on four of their last five field goal attempts.
Trailing by as many as 12 points in the second half, Wofford used an 11-2 run to take its largest lead of the game.
Messiah Jones finished a layup to pull Wofford within two at 63-61. Tray Hollowell connected from behind the 3-point arc to give the Terriers their first lead of the game at 64-63.
Richmond briefly regained the lead with a pair of free throws from Cayo. B.J. Mack and Hollowell responded with back-to-back jumper and Jones pushed the Wofford advantage to five at 70-65. Woffrod shot 7-of-17 from behind the 3-point arc in the second half.
