ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Wilin Rosario highlighted a six-run eighth innings as the Rochester Red Wings rallied for their fifth win in six games with a 9-6 victory over visiting Pawtucket.
Rosario connected on his ninth home run of the season, a three-run blast in an inning when the Wings sent 10 to the plate to erase a three-run deficit.
Tomás Telis started the comeback with a one-out double. Ronald Torreyes put runners on the corners with a single. Drew Maggi plated Telis with a double of his own, and Nick Gordon knotted the score at six with a two-run single.
Brent Rooker reached on a hit by pitch to set up Rosario who sent a two-ball, no-strike offering fromPawtucket reliever Dan Runzler over the fence in right field.
Carlos Torres worked an inning and a third out of the bullpen to pick up the win. The right-hander struck out two and improved to 2-0 on the season. Ian Krol retired the only two batters he faced to register his fourth save of the season.
Telis and Torreyes both finished 3-for-4 on the day with an RBI and run scored apiece. Torreyes returned from the inactive list on Friday and connected on a pair of home runs in the Wings loss to Pawtucket.
Rosario went 2-for-5 with a double to go with his second home run in the last six games.
Zander Wiel was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Gorkys Hernandez and Chris Owings connected on a home run apiece to pace Pawtucket to a 6-2 lead going into the bottom of the seventh.
Gordon walked and eventually scored on a Wiel sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh.
Rochester (39-40) improved to 21-9 in the month of June.
