ROCHESTER – The MCC men’s soccer team ran its winning streak to three games with a 5-0 victory over Jamestown Community College on John L. DiMarco Field Wednesday afternoon.
The Tribunes jumped out to a 4-0 lead at the break and cruised the rest of the way Monroe (5-2-0) has not allowed a goal during its streak.
Isaiah Lee got MCC on the board with the eventual game winner in the 10th minute. The freshman forward took a perfect feed from Jordan Sullivan and streaked past the Jayhawk defender before beating the JCC keeper for the goal.
Monroe made it 2-0 in the 17th minute as Cameron Welling corralled a pass from Karlyl Simon and scored. An own goal by Jamestown pushed the lead to three in the 25th minute.
Lee added another score before the half, taking the ball away from a Jamestown player and scoring to make it 4-0.
Simon put the exclamation point on the victory in the 50th minute, scoring off a Lee pass.
MCC finished with a 20-2 edge in total shots. Julinho Gustave stopped one shot for the shutout for the Tribunes.
