Kennys Vargas connected on a 3-run home run and finished with four RBI on the night as the Rochester Red Wings (25-23) rallied to beat the Durham Bulls, 11-8 in International League action at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, Tuesday night.
Vargas plated Chris Carter and Willians Astudillo with his sixth round-tripper of the year, a third-inning shot which pulled the Wings within one at 5-4.
Carter and Astudillo collected three hits apiece on the night to pace a 15-hit Rochester attack.
Nick Anderson struck out four over three innings in relief and improved to 2-0 on the season.
The Wings sent 10 the plate and scored four runs in the eighth to break open a 7-all game. Taylor Featherston, Astudillo, Jake Cave and Carter drove in a run apiece in the frame.
Featherston went 2-for-5 with three RBI.
Cave had two hits and two RBI.
Leonardo Reginatto was 2-for-5 with two runs scored.
Durham scored five runs in the first inning off Wing starter, Stephen Gonsalves. Gabriel Moya came out of the bullpen in relief of Gonsalves in the first and tossed there shutout innings.
The Wings snapped a three-game skid with the win.
The same two teams play again Wednesday afternoon. A 1:05 PM first pitch is scheduled.
