SLU falls at Butler

INDIANAPOLIS – Butler started the game on an 8-0 run and never looked back in a 75-45 victory over Saint Louis Saturday afternoon in nonconference men’s basketball action at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
It was the fourth loss in a row for the Billikens, who fall to 3-4. Butler improves to 6-2.
Junior guard Javon Bess led Saint Louis with a career-high-tying 22 points. He added a career-high 10 rebounds to post his first-career double-double. Bess scored 19 of his 22 points in the second half.
SLU, which trailed by as many as 40 at one point in the second half, shot below 30 percent from the field (28.6 percent) and 3-point range (21.1 percent). The Billikens also committed a season-high 17 turnovers and were out-rebounded 41-26.
Butler shot nearly 50 percent from the field (26-of-53, 49.1 percent) and were led by Kelan Martin‘s double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds.
The Billikens return to action Wednesday night when they face Southern Illinois at Chaifetz Arena. Tip time is 7 p.m., and the game will be televised on FOX Sports Midwest.
