NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Davidson senior Peyton Aldridge and Massachusetts sophomore Luwane Pipkins were chosen as the Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week. Saint Joseph’s freshman Taylor Funk was selected the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards, announced Monday are for games played Nov. 13-19.
In addition to becoming the 16th player in school history to hit the 1,500-point plateau, Aldridge led four Davidson players in double figures with a career-high 37 points (26 in the first half) in Davidson’s 108-81 win over UNC Wilmington. The forward from Leavittsburg, Ohio, finished 15-of-26 (.577) from the floor, including four 3-pointers, went 3-of-3 at the free-throw line and grabbed five rebounds.
Pipkins scored a career-high 34 points as he led the UMass men’s basketball team to a 101-76 win over Niagara. The guard hit 12-of-18 field goals in the game including a blistering 7-of-10 from beyond the arc. His seven 3-pointers were one shy of his previous career-high of eight, which is tied for the school record. The offensive explosion marked his first career 30-point game, and his fourth 20-point plus game in two years. Additionally, the Chicago native had five assists to just one turnover in 24 minutes of action.
Funk averaged 22.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in two wins. He shot 64 percent from 3-point range and 69 percent from the field. The forward from Lancaster, Pa., scored 22 points in the Hawks’ win over UIC, posting eight in an 11-0 SJU run to erase an 11-point deficit. He then sent the game into overtime by hitting a 3-pointer with 40.6 seconds to play. Funk then scored a career-high 23 points in home win over Princeton, making 7-of-8 field goals, with 5-of-6 from three-point range. Has scored 61 points in his first 3 collegiate games, which ranks second on SJU’s all-time list behind Bernard Blunt‘s 67 points in his first three games in 1990-91.

Davidson freshman Kellan Grady scored 24 points and had five assists in the Wildcats’ win over UNC Wilmington … Dayton’s Darrell Davis averaged 24 points at the Charleston Classic, shooting 53.3 percent from the field and 53.8 percent from three … Flyer freshman Jordan Davis had 10 points in the win over Ohio and 11 points versus Old Dominion with five steals in the two games … Duquesne’s Rene Castro-Caneddy had back-to-back double-digit games, tallying 14 points with five assists in a win over VMI and 18 points with five rebounds against Robert Morris … Duquesne freshman Eric Williams, Jr. had 18 points and eight rebounds against local rival Robert Morris … Otis Livingston II averaged 19.5 points and 5.5 assists in a pair of wins for George Mason, including shooting 7-of-10 from the field and a perfect 5-of-5 from 3-point range against Binghamton … Mason freshman Goanar Mar scored 22 points against Cal State Northridge, including the game-tying bucket with 14 second left that forced overtime … Jair Bolden averaged 4.4 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 16.8 points in a split week for the Colonials … GW freshman Terry Nolan, Jr., tallied 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting versus Florida State in just his second game as a Colonial … B.J. Johnson led La Salle with four monster games over the past week, scoring over 20 in each game, including 30 in a win over South Alabama and two double-doubles at Penn and against USA … UMass freshman Carl Pierre scored 16 point, hitting six field goals, four of which were triples … Jared Terrell averaged 24.5 points in two games for the Rams, shooting 56.3 percent with 18 made field goals … Richmond’s Grant Golden led the team points (13), rebounds (6), assists (4) and blocks (2) against Jacksonville State … Matt Mobley cruised to 27 points , hitting five threes and was a perfect 8-for-8 at the line while dishing out six assists in the Bonnies’ win over Jackson State … Saint Louis’ Jevon Besshad 22 points, nine rebounds wand was 12-of-15 at the line in the Billikens dominating win over Virginia Tech … SLU freshman Jordan Goodwin had a 19-point, 10-rebounds double-double in the win over the Hokies.
