The Canisius men’s basketball team will travel to play an exhibition game at Colgate on Wednesday, Nov. 1 to support hurricane relief and the One America Appeal, head coach Reggie Witherspoon announced Friday. Tipoff in Hamilton, N.Y., is set for 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for the game cost $5 for adults, $3 for children and seniors (62 and over). All proceeds from the event will go to the One America Appeal. The appeal was originally launched in September by all five living former U.S. Presidents to encourage their fellow citizens and friends around the world to support the staggering recovering needs from Hurricane Harvey. The appeal has since expanded to aid in Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria recovery efforts as well. As of Oct. 21, the organization has raised $31 million in donations from over 80,000 supporters.

The Golden Griffins, who were picked ninth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches Poll released Tuesday, return two starters and seven letterwinners from last year’s team that went 18-16 overall and earned a berth into the 2017 CIT. Canisius is the only team in the MAAC to return two All-MAAC honorees from a season ago (Jermaine Crumpton and Malik Johnson), with Crumpton starting the upcoming season as a Preseason All-MAAC First Team selection.

Colgate returns all five starters and 13 letterwinners from last year’s squad that went 10-22 overall and 8-10 in Patriot League play. The Raiders, who were picked fifth in the Patriot League’s official preseason poll, return 93 percent of their scoring from a season ago.

The Griffs will officially start the 2017-18 campaign Saturday, Nov. 11 when the team travels to play at cross-town rival Buffalo. The Blue and Gold will open the home portion of its 2017-18 slate Saturday, Nov. 18, when the team hosts Youngstown State.

Season tickets for the combined 2017-18 men’s and women’s home schedule are on sale now. The price is $300 for courtside seating, $220 for reserved seats and $125 for general admission. To reserve season tickets, fans should call the Canisius ticket office at (716) 888-TIXX, or purchase online at GoGriffs.com.
