Scranton/Wilkes-Barre used a four-run fourth inning to rout the Rochester Red Wings 8-1 Tuesday night at PNC Field.
Chris Heston (0-3) retired only two batters and allowed six runs, five earned, on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts. He also surrendered two home runs.
Heston entered in relief of rehabbing Twins starter Hector Santiago, who gave up one run on one hit and two walks with one strikeout over 2.2 innings. Santiago fired 48 pitches and departed with the game tied 1-1.
The RailRiders (85-50) got on the board first as Billy McKinney lifted a sac fly against Santiago in the second. Daniel Palka tied the game for the Red Wings (77-59) with an RBI single in the third.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre regained the lead off Heston as rehabbing Matt Holliday singled and Miguel Andujar followed with a homer to make it 3-1. Wilkin Castillo added a three-run blast in the fourth to stretch the lead to 6-1. The RailRiders would add another on a wild pitch and a throwing error to make it 7-1. Donovan Solano added an RBI single in the fifth to cap the scoring at 8-1.
Rochester finished 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position while leaving 11 men on base. Matt Hague went 2-for-4 with a walk in the loss.
Next Home Game: The Red Wings end the regular season home schedule with four games against Pawtucket (Red Sox) on Friday, September 1 at 7:05 p.m. at Frontier Field.
