Mike Bolsinger hurled eight shutout innings, and Raffy Lopez sparked a decisive fifth as the Buffalo Bisons defeated the Rochester Red Wings, 3-0 in International League play Wednesday night.

The loss snapped Rochester’s five-game win streak.

Bolsinger scattered four hits, struck out seven, walked none and improved to 3-2 on the season. He retired 10 straight from the end of the third through the sixth inning.

Glenn Sparkman worked a scoreless ninth for his first save of the season.

Lopez singled to lead the fifth, moved to second on Gregorio Petit‘s sacrifice bunt and scored on a Shane Opitz double to left field. Jon Berti singled home Opitz to cap the inning.

Lopez worked a leadoff base on balls in the seventh and came around to score on a Roemon Fields sacrifice fly.

Rochester’s Engelb Vielma finished 2-for-3 with a double. The Wings managed six hits and were 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position.

Zack Granite singled in four at bats. The Wings centerfielder has reached base safely in 27 consecutive games.

Opitz and Petit had two hits apiece for the Bisons (36-43).

The two teams finish their five-game set with a 1:05 first pitch at Coca-Cola Filed on Thursday.

Rochester (41-35) stays on the road with a four-game series against IL-North leading Lehigh Valley over the weekend. The Wings return home July 4th when the Pawtucket Red Sox come to town for a 7:05 start.
