NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Fordham graduate student Javontae Hawkins and George Mason senior Marquise Moore were selected as the Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week while Saint Joseph’s freshman Charlie Brown was chosen as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards, announced Monday and presented by Come Ready Nutrition, are for games played Jan. 16-22.
Hawkins averaged 20.0 points per game and five rebounds in two Fordham wins. A guard from Flint, Mich., he netted 22 points and added six rebounds in overtime win over VCU on Wednesday. He then finished with 18 points, four boards and two steals in win at UMass on Saturday. Hawkins shot .583 (14-of-28) on the week, including 3-for-7 from behind the arc.
Moore posted game highs in points (25), rebounds (13) and blocks (3) while tallying two assists and two steals in Mason’s 82-77 win at Richmond. The guard also made 9-of-16 (.563) field goal attempts and 7-of-10 (.700) free throws. The 25 points tied his career high and helped the Queens, N.Y., product post his league-leading 12th double-double of the season. Moore notched 15 of his 25 points in the second half to help the Patriots survive a late Spider rally. This is the second Player of the Week nod for Moore this year.
Brown averaged 15.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in 1-1 week for the Hawks. A forward, he had 11 points, six rebounds and two blocked shots in a loss at Massachusetts. The Philadelphia, Pa., native then set new career-highs with 19 points and nine rebounds in non-conference win over city rival Penn. Brown made 7-of-8 (.870) free throws against Penn and 9-of-10 (.900) for the week. It’s Brown’s second Rookie of the Week award this season.

Davidson’s Peyton Aldridge scored 33 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while going 13-of-25 from the floor including 5 treys in a loss a La Salle … Charles Cooke averaged 16 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in a pair of wins that kept Dayton atop the A-10 standings … Zach Lewis scored 23 points to lead Massachusetts past Saint Joseph’s, while shooting 41.7 percent from the floor (10-of-24) and a steady 40.0 percent from beyond the 3-point arc for the week … Hassan Martin had 20 points for Rhode Island in a win at Duquesne, shooting an impressive 77.8 percent (7-of-9) from the field with seven rebounds versus the Dukes … Rhody freshman Cyril Langevine grabbed eight rebounds in just 27 minutes of play at Duquesne while also contributing six points … Richmond’s T.J. Cline posted two 21-point games and averaged 7.5 rebounds with 4.0 assists for the Spiders against Dayton and George Mason … St. Bonaventure’s Jaylen Adams dished out 14 assists and scored 13 points in the Bonnie’s win over Saint Louis.
