NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – George Mason senior Marquise Moore was chosen as the Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week while Duquesne freshman Isiaha Mike was selected as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards, announced Monday and presented by Come Ready Nutrition, are for games played Dec. 5-11.
Moore averaged 21.0 points, 14.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists and shot 62.1 percent (18-of-29) from the floor while leading George Mason to a pair of road wins this past week. The Queens, N.Y., forward also shot 85.7 percent from the line and averaged 37.5 minutes/contest. Moore registered the first triple-double in Mason program history Saturday in a 79-60 win at Penn. He posted 17 points (7-11 FG), tied his career high with 16 rebounds and dished out a personal best 10 assists in a do-it-all 39 minutes on the floor. It was the first triple-double by an Atlantic 10 player since Duquesne’s T.J McConnell recorded one in 2011. In Wednesday’s 85-66 victory at Penn State, Moore recorded career bests in points (25) and field goals made (11) while grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds against the Nittany Lions.
Mike Averaged 12.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocks in Duquesne’s two games last week. The forward from Scarborough, Ontario, had seven points, nine rebounds and three assists at Robert Morris and followed that by hitting the game-winning 3-pointer with :15.9 seconds left in the Dukes’ 70-67 win over Central Connecticut State. Mike tied fellow freshman Mike Lewis II for team scoring honors with his 17 points and he added seven rebounds and three steals versus the Blue Devils.

Jack Gibbs scored 30 points, hitting five threes and nine total buckets at North Carolina in the Davidson’s only game of the week … Wildcat freshman Jon Ax Gudmundsson scored 10 points and had six rebounds, three assists and three steals for Davidson against the Tar Heels … Charles Cooke led Dayton to a pair of wins, scoring 18 points with four assists and two blocks against St. Joseph’s College and 24 points with three assists and four blocks versus ETSU … Tyler Cavanaugh had 20 points, five rebounds and four assists in a key road win at Temple, followed by a 13-point, 13-rebound double-double with six assists against Howard … Massachusetts freshman Luwane Pipkins swished six 3-pointers en route to a 20-point performance in a close road loss to Providence … E.C. Matthews had 31 points for Rhode Island at Houston, shooting 12-of-23 (.522) from the field with six threes after a 15-point, eight rebounds performance in a win over ODU … Rhody freshman Cyril Langevine had a 10-point, 11-rebounds double-double on the road at Houston with two assists, two blocks and two steals … ShawnDre’ Jones scored a game-high 19 points for Richmond, including 11 in the final two minutes of the game against UMBC, hitting eight straight free throws in the final 36 seconds to ice the victory … UR freshman De’Monte Buckingham stuffed the stat sheet with nine rebounds, eight points and three assists versus the Retrievers … St. Bonaventure’s Jaylen Adams scored 31 points, including an 11-of-12 performance at the line with eight rebounds and five assists against Hofstra … Saint Joseph’s Shavar Newkirk went 10-of-16 from the field for 27 points and had the game-winning three-point play with 10.7 seconds left to give SJU a come-from-behind 72-71 win at Drexel … Jermaine Bishop had 12 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals for the Billikens against Wichita State … SLU freshman Zeke Moore had 11 points on 50 percent shooting versus the Shockers.
