ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – David Andoh has signed an athletics grant-in-aid and will transfer to St. Bonaventure University. Per NCAA rules, he will sit out next season and then have one season of eligibility – 2016-17.

A native of Montreal, Quebec, Andoh started his college career at San Jose State, where he averaged 2.3 points per game as a freshman. He then transferred to Merritt College, which plays in the California Community College Athletic Association, for the 2013-14 season. There, he averaged 14 points and 8.3 rebounds per game and earned Bay Valley All-Conference honors.

“We are really excited about David deciding to come to St. Bonaventure,” said St. Bonaventure head coach Mark Schmidt. “He’s a player who’s had success in Division I. He is a skilled, face-up four man with guard skills. We think that next year (when he is not eligible) will help him. He’ll spend the year getting acclimated to our system, working with (Director of Strength and Conditioning) Coach Fiske and getting better. David is a shooter to 18 feet now, but we think he can extend that out to three-point range.

“The game is becoming more of a four-out, one-in game, and he fits that style well.”

Andoh is the second transfer student who will join the Bonnies. Matt Mobley, a shooting guard from Central Connecticut State, is the other. Both players will sit out of competition next season but will be allowed to practice with the team.

The Bonnies will welcome three freshmen, guard Nelson Kaputo and forwards LaDarian Griffin and Derrick Woods, as well as junior college small forward Courtney Stockard this coming year.
