I was able to hear what the refs were saying and they did not have a replay of the shot. He did not get it off in time, but the call stands.

Dayton among top ten television markets for basketball
The Dayton television market is the eighth-best in the country when it comes to college basketball, according to research analyzed by ESPN. ESPN examined the 56 metered markets that carried college basketball games in 2011-12, and ranked them by ratings. The Flyers had 27 games on television in 2011-12. At least 28 will be broadcast this season. The University has one of the strongest and most long-lasting local television packages in the nation. CBS affiliate WHIO-TV has carried Dayton games since 1952. It is the number one CBS affiliate for total all-day viewership, and yet WHIO will pre-empt network programming more than 10 times a year to carry Flyer basketball games.
Majerus lived his life to help others
Rick Majerus had always been there for everyone else. If you had a problem? Rick to the rescue. If you had a medical issue, he was on the phone with names of doctors and recommendations for treatment. (One time I had to tell him: Coach, I have a head cold. I think I’ll be OK in a couple of days. I don’t need to fly to Los Angeles to see a specialist. But thank you.) Read more…
Rick Majerus quotes
“I’m particularly happy to go back to Chicago. I mean, we don’t have an Italian restaurant in Utah that ends in a vowel. [In Utah], you’re eating at a place like Olson’s or something and ordering baked manicotti out of the Chef Boyardee can.”
Remembering Rick Majerus: A jovial, sad and complex man
“You’re Jewish, right?” he asked. “Yes, coach.” “You want a bagel?” “No thanks, coach.” So we rode in Majerus’ car back to his hotel. That’s where he lived — the Salt Lake City Marriott. He had his own suite. It wasn’t anything extravagant. He simply liked the convenience. Majerus didn’t want the hassles of renting an apartment or owning a home. At the Marriott, he could come and go as he pleased, order room service, have the place cleaned every day. As I often joked with him over the years, he must have accrued more Marriott Rewards points than any customer in the history of the franchise.
Temple defeats Wagner to open 5-0
PHILADELPHIA— Temple improved to 5-0 to start a season for the first time in a quarter century on Saturday by defeating the Wagner Seahawks (2-4), 70-62, at the Liacouras Center. In what was by no means an easy task, the Owls overcame an early eight-point deficit to secure the victory . Senior Khalif Wyatt went 9-of-16 from the field to put up a season-high 26 points, which was just two shy of his career-best. Senior Scootie Randall also reached double-figures, having a 10-point day, along with nine boards.
49ers remain undefeated with 76-64 win over ECU
CHARLOTTE, NC –Behind four players in double-figures and a dominating scoring effort in the paint, the Charlotte 49ers (7-0) defeated East Carolina (5-1), 76-64, to set the school-record for best start. The 49ers 7-0 start is the best start in school history; the previous mark was 6-0 which was set three previous seasons.
…And another thing
If you woke up today and thought, “I hope I don’t have to deal with any math today because math is hard”, then I apologize. I wanted to expand on my thoughts from Saturday’s win over Belmont and VCU’s rebounding success this season. Last year, VCU appeared to finally grow into Shaka Smart’s “Havoc”. The Rams defended and turned over the opposition at hard-to-believe rates. The Rams’ ability to turn other teams over and convert those extra opportunities into points is what bridged the gap between being a good team and a great one.
The Rams have a formula in place
Doing math is transparent and telling. Teacher and student. Learning equations, applying concepts and producing an answer, all while demonstrating an understanding and consistency in how you arrived at that answer. Sticking with math and applying the analogy to basketball, in covering theRhode Island Rams for 31 games last season, I witnessed a team that got the right answer seven times and the wrong one 24. More disconcerting than the results was the methodology. If someone asked to look at the scratch paper after those seven wins, it may have been blank.
Dukes pull away to defeat Maine, 87-73
