**** Welcome to the Pickin’ Splinter’s Who am I for A-10 women’s basketball. Each week we will highlight an A-10 player or coach past or present. Your mission should you choose to accept will be to take the set of clues and figure out who the player/coach is. The ground rules are simple. First and foremost try this without research. Release your inner James Joyce and show us your stream of consciousness as you decipher the answer. Add to that the teachings of Myagi: patience. If you don’t get the answer right away, give your brain a chance to work if for no other reason than to stay in the discussion. You may not have THE answer, but you might prompt another reader by asking the right question. Good luck!
Wow!! I get to be the first “Who am I? ” for the 2012-13 season. This is truly an honor, but I have to warn you – I am not going to make it easy. To know me, you have know my school’s basketball history. While I am not at the top of the record books, you can’t underestimate my importance on our teams. While I could shoot, my preference was to get my teammates involved. For my career I finished with 307 career assists, good for 8th all time in my school’s history. Twice during my career, I led the team in assists and in my sophomore year, I had a staggering 1.41 assist/turnover ratio.
In my junior year, we won a then program record 23 games and had our first trip to the WNIT. I was the captain my senior year and we had so much fun the year before, we decided to do it again! Over my four years we won a total of 77 games. Not bad until a recent graduating class blew right by me.
But my accomplishments during my four years weren’t just on the court, but in the classroom as well. I received several awards when I graduated, include one of highest given to female students in my major.
Currently I am in the college coaching ranks, but I am not telling you where. That would give it away!
Still not sure? Okay one last clue: Spartan or Wolverine?
Who am I ?
Barry Waltman says
I believe it is Amy Waugh from Xavier. Any other thoughts?
Smitty says
Barry – That is a great guess, but not the correct answer.
I will say this much – you are on the right path.
Patrick Dillard says
This is a tough one! I am really stumped!! When will you tell us the answer?
Smitty says
Patrick – I will give you one more hint. This school broke its own record for most wins in a season, last year with 31.
GoBonnies says
How about Coach Andi Doneth at St. Bonaventure? #GoBonnies
Smitty says
Ding! Ding! Ding! Coach Andi Doneth is the correct answer.
Coach Doneth is currently an assistant coach with the Bonnies and also played for the Brown and White from 2006-2010,
Thanks for playing this week, be sure to check back in next week for another Who am I?
