Conference play continues to shrink the number of undefeated teams.
1. Ohio State – Buckeyes are fifth in the country limiting opponents to 56.6 points per game and number two with turnover margin of 6.6.
2. Pittsburgh – Panthers’ rebound margin is 13.1 and have 19.9 assists per game. Both are #1 in the nation.
3. Duke – Will visit Madison Square Garden on Saturday to play the Johnnies.
4. UConn – Getting 6.9 blocks a game – good for number in division one.
5. San Diego State – Will play truth and consequences at BYU, Wednesday.
6. Kansas – Rank #1 in field goal percentage at 52.% while holding opponents to 25.6 from behind the arc – second in the country.
7. Villanova – Looked impressive at the Carrier Dome.
8. BYU – See San Diego State.
9. Texas – Have won 10 of 11.
10. Syracuse – Were the past week’s two losses a sign of things to come?
11. Washington – Hitting 9.4 threes per game – 8th in the land.
12. Texas A& M – Get a shot at redemption when the Longhorns come to College Station on Saturday.
13. Missouri – Getting 9.9 steals a game – good for sixth in division one and have the fourth-best turnover margin at 6.0.
14. Kentucky – Battling inconsistency.
15. Florida – On the road at Georgia and Mississippi State this week.
16. Notre Dame – Play at Pittsburgh tonight.
17. Missouri State – 10.7 turnovers is the eighth-best in the NCAA.
18. Purdue – Eighth-best turnover margin in the country at 5.2.
19. Florida State – Holding opponents to 34. 9 from the field while committing just 13.6 fouls per outing. Tops in the country in both categories.
20. Illinois – Rank third in the country hitting 42.7 percent from behind the arc.
21. Memphis – Showed resilience winning at UAB.
22. Wisconsin – Team assist to turnover ratio of 1.74 is tops in the land as is their 82% team accuracy from the free throw line and the Badgers turn it over just 8.1 times per game.
23. Vanderbilt – Looked impressive beating St. Mary’s.
24. Gonzaga – Host St. Mary’s on Thursday after losing two in the West Coast Conference.
25. Utah State – Have won 13 in a row.

As you point out, Casey, a SEVERE road test for ND at Pitt tonight. Kind of unreasonable to expect an ND win, but I do expect them to, at the very least, compete and keep their composure. If we lose, we lose, but let’s not collapse into the fetal position for long stretches if things don’t go our way. Carleton Scott is back in the line up, so there are no excuses. Or at least no good ones 😉
Texas spanks Kansas at the Phog and A&M last week and can only climb to #9 (3 spots BEHIND the Jayhawks)??? Geez … your a tough gatekeeper 🙂

I was really impressed by Texas (watched them vs. OK State). Boy, can they defend. I’ll try to watch them a few more times before the tourney, but right now I’m thinking they’ll go far. Just my opinion – there D can take them very far this year.
