Big East Mid-season Awards

With the College Basketball season about half over, the Big East still has eight teams in the AP Top 25, which is a team down from last week (West Virginia dropped from the rankings). Here are my mid-season awards and recognitions for the Big East Conference.

ACC full of surprises thus far

While much has been deservedly made of the Big East and their potential for nine or ten teams earning invitations to the NCAA tournament in March, the ACC has shown they could be punching more than one ticket to the Motor City come April.

The Week That Was

In the Big East, one thing is for sure; there are no easy victories, no pushovers, and no games that ANY team can mark off as a win. That being said, like all conferences, the Big East has its power-houses and it’s weaker teams.

NCAA Hoops: The week past and degrees of truth

Amidst all this brouhaha college hoops has entered conference play the time to see if there are any counterfeit bills amongst the currency – to sort through the truth and the not so true – to distinguish the degrees of truth and decide if there are any lessons to be learned.

Tale of the tape – UCLA at Oregon

Last year the Bruins survived 80-75 on the Duck pond in Eugene. Some changes have taken place since then – Kevin Love (who spurned Oregon’s recruiting advances despite his father playing for Oregon in the 70s) and Russell Westbrook are now earning paychecks in the NBA.
