Guard comes to La Salle from Lee Academy in Maine
PHILADELPHIA – D.J. Peterson (Minnetonka, MN / Hopkins / Lee Academy (ME)) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play men’s basketball at La Salle, head coach Dr. John Giannini announced today.
“We recruited D.J. out of high school and prep school because he is the type of person and player we want in our program,” head coach Dr. John Giannini said. “He is a complete guard with good size who can dribble, pass, shoot and defend. As a person, he is bright, personable, and passionate about basketball. I am very excited about D.J. joining us. I expect him to make a positive contribution to our team next year and to have an excellent playing career.”
As a high school player, he led Hopkins High School to two straight Class 4A State Championships and a combined 61-2 record during his junior and senior seasons. The 6-5, 185 guard earned all-state and all-Metro honors as a senior after averaging 14 points, six rebounds and five assists.
Following graduation, he played a season at Lee Academy in Maine, where he averaged 15 points, six rebounds and four assists while shooting 40% from three point range.
Peterson joins forward Jerrell Wright (Philadelphia, PA / Dobbins Tech), the Philadelphia Daily News and Markward Club Philadelphia Player of the Year, and center Steve Zack (Lewisberry, PA / Red Land), a two-time Patriot News All-Big 15 team selection, in the Explorers’ recruiting class.
