ONTARIO CENTER — Amaya Glessing and Raegan Dippel scored a goal apiece as No. 2 Wayne (15-2-0) defeated No. 7 Greece Olympia (5-12-0) in Section V Class A Girls’ Soccer action on Saturday.
“Our game plan and our work ethic all week long put us in position to win this game,” said Wayne head coach, Bill Jordan. “It gets harder every game from here on out.”
Glessing took advantage of a giveaway to start the scoring in the 20th minute. Dippel doubled the advantage with 22:43 remaining in regulation.
“All year long, she’s had those goals to put teams away,” Jordan said of Dippel, a sophomore. “She did it against Penn Yan the first time we played them here. She’s done it against other teams.“
Jordan also credited Glessing, a senior and leading scorer.
“There wasn’t a secret as to how we wanted to score those goals. We just wanted to make sure the ball touched Amaya’s foot. That’s the bottom line. It doesn’t matter if she’s getting the assists, or if she’s keeping the ball in play. She’s a smart kid. She knows that this means an awful lot.”

Hannah Adams found the back of the net for Olympia to cut the deficit to one with 20:45 remaining in the game.
Adams hit the crossbar with another attempt in the final 10 minutes of the match.
“We made two mistakes,” Jordan said. “Two defensive mistakes, the entire game and one of them cost us. So we’ll watch film and, you know, we’ll work on some things. Maybe our backs, our half backs need to check back a little bit more defensively.”
With the win, Wayne advanced to the semifinals and will host No. 3 Honeoye Falls-Lima on Wednesday.
