The Rochester Red Wings took their second straight win in a crucial series against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Thursday, 10-5, using a six-run sixth to move to four games back in the race for the second-half International League playoff race.
Down 5-2 heading into the sixth, the Red Wings began their comeback against Scranton and reliever Danny Watson with a solo home run by Maxwell Romero Jr. to start off the inning and close the gap to 5-3. The next three batters then reached, loading the bases and chasing Watson out of the game to be replaced by Carson Coleman. Trey Lipscomb kept the hitting coming, though, singling to center to score two and tie the game at five.
Riley Adams then struck the game-winning blow, doubling to right on an 0-1 pitch to score two more runs and give the Red Wings a 7-5 lead. Romero added one more run with his second hit of the inning – an RBI double with two outs – to extend the lead to 8-5.

The Red Wings later added two more runs in the eighth when Romero hit his second home run of the game, a two-run shot that was third in AAA this season.
On the mound, Rochester right-hander Luis Perales allowed five earned-runs on five hits, including a home run to Scranton right-fielder Max Schueman in the fifth to give the RailRiders the 5-2 lead. However, Perales was able to earn the win to move to 6-5 on the season. Riley Cornelio (2 IP), Eddy Yean (1 IP) and Jack Sinclair (1 IP) each held Scranton scoreless in relief.
On the other side of the game, Yankees’ No. 3 prospect Elmer Rodriguez struggled with command, walking in the first run of the game in the first inning and then balking in another to give the Red Wings the early 2-0 lead. The 22-year-old from Puerto Rico ultimately went four innings plus a batter in the fifth, allowing three hits and five walks while striking out six in the no-decision.
The two squads continue their series on Friday at 7:05 p.m. As of now, the Red Wings have yet to announce their starting pitcher, but Scranton expects to send out righty Adam Kloffenstein (2-7, 5.06 ERA).
