Brighton graduate and Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Ernie Clement leads the first All-Star Game ballot release for the American League, it was revealed on Monday.
The 30-year-old utilityman is well ahead of his competition in the first release of voting so far, with 904,702 votes. In second is the Texas Rangers’ Ezequiel Duran, with 287,996.

Clement, coming off a historic October that saw him set a new postseason record of 30 hits, has continued to impress since and currently leads the American League in doubles, with 20, while slashing .304/.324/.460. He also represented his country on Team USA during the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
No Rochester-born player has been selected for the All-Star Game since pitcher Johnny Antonelli made six All-Star Games in the 1950s, his last in 1959. The only other player born in the Rochester to earn All-Star selections is pitcher Bob Keegan (1954), although Lima-born Ken O’Dea (1945) and Seneca Falls-born Dave Giusti (1973) have also earned All-Star honors.
One former Rochester Red Wing is leading in his category for the All-Star Game: Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams leads his position for the National League with 579,796 votes. Other former Red Wings in pursuit of of All-Star spots include Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (fourth in the AL), Giants second baseman Luis Arraez (fifth in the NL), and Nationals outfielder James Wood (seventh in the NL).
Balloting for the first phase of All-Star voting goes through June 25, with the game itself taking palce July 14 in Philadelphia.
