The Rochester Red Wings won their third straight game against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Thursday, scoring seven unanswered runs en route to a 7-1 victory in Allentown.

The win ensures that even in a worst-case scenario, the Wings will split the six-game series. It also keeps the Red Wings – who at 37-22 are now a season-high 15 games over .500 – in first place in the International League first half pennant race, although the Memphis Redbirds kept pace with a win against Louisville to remain just a half-game back.

Down 1-0 after two innings due to a Paul McIntosh single off Wings’ starter Jackson Kent, the Red Wings then scored at least one run an inning from the third through the seventh, including a game-tying single in the third by Seaver King and a go-ahead run in the fourth where Joey Wiemer scored when Riley Adams beat what would have been a double-play throw at first.

Harry Ford added to the lead with an RBI single in the fifth, with Adams drawing a bases-loaded walk later in the inning to make it 4-1. Abimelec Ortiz plated two on a double in the sixth before Christian Franklin brought about the final 7-1 score with an RBI double in the seventh.

On the mound, Kent earned the win to move to 2-0 in AAA this season, going five innings while allowing five hits, a run, and a walk while striking out six. Jack Sinclair, Carson Palmquist, and Trevor Gott combined to go the last four innings, not allowing a hit until Keaton Anthony tripled off Gott in the bottom of the ninth.

Ortiz led the Wings in batting, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI while drawing a walk and scoring a run. Franklin also doubled twice and stole a bag, while Trey Lipscomb tripled and later scored.

The Red Wings go for their fourth straight win and their 12th straight road win on Friday, when Luis Perales takes the mound against Lehigh’s Chuck King at 6:45 p.m.
