Mitchell Nieves helped East High to a 12-7 regular season mark and a first-round bye in sectionals. League coaches named Nieves the 2025 Rochester City Athletic Conference (RCAC) Player of the Year.
At the plate, Nieves hit .409 (27-for-66) and finished with an on-base percentage of .506 (40-79). The junior left fielder/pitcher accounted for 16 RBI and 25 runs scored. He drew 11 walks while striking out four times. He finished with four doubles and 13 stolen bases.

On the mound, the right-hander struck out 41 and walked 22 over 28.2 innings pitched. In nine appearances, he logged a 3-2 record with an ERA of 3.91. He surrendered 16 earned runs on 25 hits.
Nieves saved his best for the postseason when he went 2-for-3 with a walk, two RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in the Eagles’ quarterfinal win over Geneva. He hurled five innings in relief to pick up the win in which he struck out five and allowed one earned run on four hits and a walk.
Fellow East High Eagles, Eric Jones, Kyle Markham and Justus Robinson joined their teammate as First Team All-RCAC selections. School of the Arts Silverhawks Benjamin Barnosky, Henry Hawkinson, Bennie Laver and Bruce Newton also were named to the First Team along with Edison Tech’s Carlos Gonzalez.
