ROCHESTER, N.Y. — One day after manufacturing five runs out of four hits in a Game 1 victory, Monroe Community College Baseball committed five errors and dropped Game 2 of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) East Sub-District series to UConn-Avery Point (UCAP), 28-12.

The loss was the worst for the program since a 27-11 drubbing at the hands of Allegany College of Maryland in the East District Championship on May 21st, 2006.

The result forces a deciding Game 3 on Sunday. A 1 PM first pitch is scheduled at Tribune Field.

MCC pitchers combined for six walks, three wild pitches and two hit batsmen.

UCAP (27-6) scored eight runs in the first and four more in the third. The Pointers finished the game with 28 hits – six for extra bases.

The Tribunes (25-15) managed to cut the deficit to five in the fourth.

Braedon Reina (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili HS) connected on a three-run home run in the third and drove in another run in the fourth.

Michael Sardou (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) had RBI singles in the third and fourth innings as well.

Miguel Matos (Rochester, N.Y./East HS) had a two-run single, and Tobey Wright (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) drove in a run to make it a 14-9 game.

The Tribunes did not get any closer.

Reina finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Sardou was 3-5 and crossed home twice. Matos went 2-4 with three RBI. Paul Fiene (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem HS North) and Jadon Wanat (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville North HS) had two hits apiece. Wanat scored three runs. Fiene scored twice.
