Constantino Financial Friday Baseball Wrap: Orbaker caps Sodus rally with a walk-off; Newark’s Smith fans 16, hurls 1-hitter

WEBSTER THOMAS (10-8) 6
HILTON (7-11) 3

Shane Talbot struck out three and allowed two earned runs on three hits over four innings to pick up the win. Talbot went 2-for-4 at the plate with a two-run home run. Connor Smith fanned three over three innings to pick up the save. Tyler Estelle doubled and drove in a run. Nate Caracci, Evan Caracci, and Joe Presutti had a hit apiece. Joe Baller collected an RBI on a sacrifice fly. Andrew Lenhard gave Hilton an early lead with a two-run home run in the first inning. Brady Gerig started the bottom the frame with a single and scored on Lenhard’s round-tripper. Kallin Whelehan singled and drove in a run for the Cadets. Ryan Wahl also scored for Hilton. Steven Kraus and Payden Prince had a single apiece. Thomas tied the score with two in the third then added single runs in the fourth and fifth before tacking on two in the sixth.

BRIGHTON (8-9) 4
VICTOR (15-3) 12

Jameson Ricigliano Jr. finished 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored to lead Victor which put a fives-pot on the board in the first inning and ran its win streak to 11 games. Garrett Clar went 2-for-4 in the win. Mitchell Schalberg, James Murray, Grady Kessler, Weston Elkovitch, Chris Swackhamer, John Swartz added a hit apiece for the Blue Devils. Jamison Riley started and struck out two over two innings of work. Grady Kessler relieved hurled 1.2 innings of relief, and Nate Power threw 3.1 innings of hitless ball. Brighton’s Wesley Sturrup went 3-for-4 to lead the Bruins, and John Ahrens was 2-for-4 with three RBI.

RUSH-HENRIETTA (7-12) 7

Caden Richards struck out nine and scattered nine hits in a complete-game effort. The junior walked one batter. Mason Stewart finished 2-for-3 including a single that plated two to cap a five-run Rush-Henrietta third inning. Quentin Grimes started the outburst with a one-out walk. Grimes stole second and scored on an Oliver Wright base hit. Matthew Turner reached on a base on balls. Mason Davey followed with a run-scoring single. Richards worked a walk to set up Stewart. Davey went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the win. Turner doubled, walked twice and crossed home twice. Gates Chili’s Peter Dellefave III finished 3-for-4. Bruce Hanna, Andrew McManus and Jordan Hoock each had two hits.

PITTSFORD MENDON (7-10) 8
GREECE ATHENA (13-4) 9 (f/8)

Greece Athena took advantage when four consecutive batters reached on hit by pitch to walk off with a seventh straight victory. Trailing 8-7, Derrick Allen led the eighth with a base on balls and later scored the tying run. Gio Stewart came home with the game winner. Allen went 2-for-3 with a walk at the plate. The junior homered, doubled, had six RBI and scored twice. Parker Goodness was 3-for-3 with a double, two walks, three runs scored and an RBI. Goodness struck out four over six innings. The sophomore right-hander surrendered one earned run on four hits and four walks. Sammy Saucke was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. Jacob Sova had two hits in four at-bats. Mikey Coyle doubled, drove in a run and scored another. Connor Osier doubled and walked. Ryan Ciccone struck out two over two innings of relief to pick up the win. Athena trailed 6-4 heading into the bottom of the sixth before scoring twice on Allen’s two-run double. The Trojans then needed a run in the seventh to send the game to extra innings. Goodness brought home Coyle with a two-out single. Mendon’s Colden Forney went 3-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and two runs scored. Forney gave the Vikings an 8-7 lead in the top of the eighth with a two-out RBI single. Josiah Martin was 2-for-4 with three RBI. Brandon Trott singled and scored. Jack Albanese walked twice and scored a run. James Termine walked and scored. Aidan Lerner-Morelle also crossed home for the Vikings.

EASTRIDGE (8-10) 4
BROCKPORT (8-9) 6

Ryan Maxwell struck out 10 over 6.2 innings, and Brockport won for the fourth time in the past five games. Maxwell allowed four runs on six hits and four walks. Ethan Enderle finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and two RBI including a run-scoring single in the fourth when Brockport brought home three and took a lead it did not surrender at 4-3. Myles Sherman singled, walked and drove in a run. Greg Rightmyer walked twice and scored a run. Brayden Scaccia and David D’Ambrosia both took advantage of walks and eventually crossed home. Andrew Lennartz was 2-for-3. Dan Dailey retired the only batter he faced. Eastridge’s Jayden Inglese went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Brennen Russo singled, walked, drove in a run and scored once. Porter Hermon singled and scored. Xzavier Hughey walked twice and crossed home once. Hughey started and struck out three over four innings of work on the mound. Russo fanned four without allowing a hit through two innings of relief work.

IRONDEQUOIT (8-9) 3
WEBSTER SCHROEDER (12-5) 9

Dylan Dumont started and struck out 10 without issuing a walk over five innings of one-hit ball to pick up the win. Aiden Julian and Anthony Liberti finished with two hits and two RBI apiece to lead the Schroeder offense. Gavin Horton added two hits. Justin Maier drove in a pair of runs. Irondequoit’s Jack Bayerl tripled and had two RBI.

BATAVIA (9-10) 17
GREECE ARCADIA (2-16) 3

Bronx Buchholz struck out six and two earned runs on five hits in a complete-game performance. Jameson Motyka led the offense going 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored. Maggio Buchholz was 2-for-2 with two RBI and three runs scored. Cole Grazioplene went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI. Mekhi Fortes finished 2-for-4 with a double, run scored and two RBI. Brady Mazur had two hits and a run scored in three at-bats. Ryan Fazio went 2-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI. Carter Mullen singled, scored a run and drove in another. Dane Dombrowski doubled, drove in a run and also scored.

PENFIELD (4-13) 0
AQUINAS (11-6) 2

Michael Calogero struck out four over 5.2 innings of work and finished 1-for-2 with a double to lead Aquinas. Ryan Lewin went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Jimmy Marotta was 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored. Alex Rosado struck out two over an inning and a third to register the save. Jacob Natale had two hits for Penfield.

WATERLOO (6-9) 17
GREECE OLYMPIA/ODYSSEY (7-10) 3

Chase Osterhout went 3-for-4 and finished a home run shy of the cycle with two runs scored and four RBI to lead Waterloo. Devin Mulvey-Salerno was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and three runs scored in the win. Dominick Hamblin went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Dylan Bienvenue struck out one, walked one and allowed two runs on three hits over two innings of work on the mound. Dylan Caraballo allowed one run on two walks and two hits over two innings. Caraballo struck out three. Jacob Wolff struck out two and walked two over a scoreless inning. Greece’s Tyler Ashton finished 2-for-3. Zachary Gagner went 1-for-3 with a double, run scored and an RBI. Angel Davila singled and drove in a run.

FRANKLIN/WOIS (5-10) 14
LIMA CHRISTIAN (5-8) 4

Shawn Goins finished 3-for-4 with three RBI and earned the win on the mound to lead Franklin. Jonael Maldonado went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI in the win.

WELLSVILLE (16-1) 10

Aiden Cowburn struck out eight and three-hit shutout over five innings as Wellsville defeated Addison for the second time this season and won its 12th straight game. Ty Vogel doubled as part of a three-hit performance to lead the offense. Trent Green drove in two runs with three hits. Cooper Brockway and Alex Green accounted for two hits apiece. Brockway had a double in the win. Brennen Geffers and Karson Grover both had an RBI single. Addison’s Andrew Jones finished with two hits.

LIVONIA (9-7) 12
AVON (3-9) 1 (f/5)

Deadlocked at one in the top of the fifth, Livonia batted around and scored 11 runs on the way to a seventh straight win.  Jack Tebeau struck out seven without issuing a walk over four innings to pick up his second varsity win. Jake Benitez went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Jack Tebeau was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI.  Seth Eadie went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.

HAVERLING (8-6) 2
GENESEO (12-5) 3

Phil Dotterweich struck out 12 and hurled a two-hitter as Geneseo put together back-to-back wins. The junior right-hander issued four walks and allowed two runs (one earned). Sam Chanler’s one-out, RBI single capped a three-run fifth inning as the Blue Devils rallied from a 2-0 hole. Oren Ray led the frame with a single. One out later, Cooper Warner put runners on first and second with a base hit. Tyler Churchfield loaded the bases with a single, and two runs scored when Bryce Patterson reached on an error. Churchfield went 2-for-3 in the game. Brady O’Brien and Kellen O’Brien finished with a single apiece. Haverling’s Owen Smith singled and scored. Eric Carney-Hendrix walked twice and crossed home once. Dylan Wenban collected an RBI with a sacrifice fly. Lukas Mills-Travis doubled. Carney-Hendrix started, struck out five and allowed three runs (one earned) over 5.1 innings.

WAYLAND-COHOCTON (13-4) 3
WARSAW (4-8) 1 (f/8)

Ethan Loop‘s two-run double in the top of the eighth broke a 1-1 tie and was the difference in the game.  Matt Clark picked up his ninth pitching victory of the season going all eight innings, giving up three hits while striking out six. Markus Brehm went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four stolen bases for the Eagles. Ty Joy went the distance for Warsaw, giving up six hits while striking out 13.

HORNELL (3-10) 4
LETCHWORTH (10-4) 5

Lucas Grisewood drove in Adam Webster with a walk-off single to lead Letchworth. Adam Halsey struck out five in a complete-game effort. Noah Almeter was 2-for-3 with two RBI in the win.

CALEDONIA-MUMFORD (4-12) 12

Jacob Wiley finished 3-for-5 including a walk-off single to lead Cal-Mum. The sophomore finished with three runs scored and three RBI. Donny Peet went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and struck out six over three innings of work to pick up th win. Zach Boop went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Collin Foote singled and drove in two runs. Ryan Mills singled, stole a base and scored a run. Tyler McClurg went 1-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base.

ALEXANDER (9-6) 2
PAVILION/YORK (11-3) 4

Ryan Brady finished 2-for-3 with an RBI as Pavilion/York won for the sixth time in the past seven games. Liam Ezard was 1-for-3 with a double. Evan Kingdon added a single. Jake pangrazio and Joe Bauer both singled and drove in a run. Pangrazio struck out nine over 5.2 innings.

“It was good to see the boys compete in a close game,” said Pavilion/York head coach Tim Kingdon. “It was our senior recognition night, so I felt like the boys were really playing for each other to get the win for our four seniors.”

PALMYRA-MACEDON (9-7) 14
CLYDE-SAVANNAH (8-7) 0

Four different players finished with multi-hit nights, and Palmyra-Macedon won for the fifth time in the past six games. Brayden Leo went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored. Isiah Stephens was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Tony Porpora was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two run scored. Brennan Pipitone had two hits in four at-bats with an RBI and two runs scored. Camron Quick doubled, walked, drove in a run and crossed home twice. Trevor Delmarle and Noah Dapolito both singled and scored. JB Conklin singled, walked twice, drove in a run and scored. Quick started and struck out five over 2.2 shutout innings. Shane Maier fanned six in 2.1 scoreless innings of work.

BLOOMFIELD (9-7) 2
SODUS (11-6) 3 (f/8)

Parker Orbaker connected on a two-out single and brought home Braydn Orbaker for a walk-off victory as Sodus won its second straight. The Spartans rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings. Trailing 2-0, Gauge Johnson led the bottom of the seventh with a base hit. One out later, Carter Salerno started the scoring with an RBI double and eventually came home with the tying run. Parker Orbaker struck out three without issuing a walk over three scoreless innings of relief work to pick up the win. Braydn Orbaker and Garrett Barron both finished 2-for-4 in the win. Evan Laird and Austin Cincinello had a single apiece. Bloomfield’s Gunner Vogel went 2-for-4 with a double, reached bast three times and scored a run. Kiel Dredger also scored for the Bombers.

LYONS (6-10) 0
NEWARK (5-11) 7

Senior right hander Xavier Smith struck out 16 and hurled a one-hit shutout to lead Newark on Senior Night. Smith struck out the first nine batters of the game. He fanned the side again in the sixth and seventh innings. Ethan Coleman finished 2- for-4 with two stolen bases to lead the offense. Nolan Benedict was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two stolen bases. Michael McGavisk went 2-for-3. Carlos Martinez tripled and drove in a run. Newark scored a run in the third inning, two in the fourth and four more runs in the fifth. Lyons Shortstop Braden Bookmiller walked on a 3-2 count with two outs in the fourth inning to break up the perfect game. Second baseman Brady Bastian led off the fifth with a bunt single down the third base line to break up the no-hitter.

BOLIVAR-RICHBURG (16-2) 12
GENESEE VALLEY-BELFAST (14-3) 0

Trey Buchholz doubled and tripled as part of 2-for-3 performance as Bolivar-Richburg put crooked numbers on the board in the first, second and fifth innings to rebound from a loss and win for the ninth time in the past 10 games. Buchholz doubled and drove in one in a four-run first then tripled and scored in the second when the Wolverines duplicated their first inning offensive output. Reiss Gaines finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored in the win. Aydin Sisson was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored. Landon Barkley went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored. Tavyn MacDonnell also had two hits to go with two RBI and a run scored. Caden Allen tripled, walked twice, drove in a run and scored twice. Allen struck out three with one walk and hurled a two-hitter over five scoreless innings. Trent Hutchison and Matt Cater collected a single apiece for Genesee Valley-Belfast.
