Monday Softball Wrap: Meyer’s walk-off blast lifts Marion/Gananda to fourth straight win; Victor’s Steinorth reaches career milestone

Olivia Steinorth hurled a two-hitter and struck out eight including the 400th strikeout of her career. The senior fanned 24 in her most recent outing over the weekend. Ashley Jedrich finished 2-for-2 at the plate with a sacrifice fly and two RBI. Ryleigh Fontana was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Steinorth singled and scored. Audrey Steinorth was 2-for-4. Alexah Loeser accounted for a single. Nicole Allen and Lauryn Smith had a single apiece for Fairport.

BRIGHTON (5-9) 0
WEBSTER THOMAS (12-2) 9

Ella Maloney finished 2-for-4 on the night including a leadoff in the first inning to spark a four-run frame. Madeleine Throumoulos singled and scored in the first along with Emily Ford who doubled and crossed home. Olivia Bowers and Julia Maciag started the fourth with back-to-back doubles and eventually scored to push the lead to 6-0. Throumoulos went 2-for-4 in the win. Bowers was 2-for-3. Maciag reacehd base twice. Emma Maloney walked and scored. Ruby Marrapese was 3-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored. Maddie Hicks struck out four and hurled a 2-hitter for the win. Hicks also went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Brighton’s Vanessa Ng and Elena Toombs had a single apiece.

Audrey Gleghorn singled and eventually scored the winning run on a fielder’s choice as Rush-Henrietta won its second straight and fourth in the past five games. Kadyn Hartel struck out four without issuing a walk and allowed six hits in a complete-game effort. Hartel went 2-for-4 at the plate. Elizabeth Gleghorn connected on a solo home run. Katelyn Militello had the winning RBI and also scored a run. Liz Rinella was 2-for-4. Zara Vattimo singled and scored for Penfield. Emerson Bremmer doubled and crossed home for the Patriots. Ella Maley drove in a run with a base hit. Addison Young, Lydia Hickey and Zoe VonDerLinn each had a hit.

IRONDEQUOIT (4-12) 7

Lucy Murphy finished 3-for-3 with a a run scored and two RBI as Hilton rallied from five down with a six-run second inning. Jordan Brozak singled, scored and had two RBI. Ava Brugno walked twice and scored twice. Olivia Galina had two hits and scored two runs.  Naomi Rosario collected two hits, three runs scored and two RBI. Rosario also picked up the win in relief with four strike outs over six innings. Irondequoit’s Laney Flynn was 3-for-4 with solo home run and three runs scored.

GATES CHILI (3-11) 6

Hannah Carpenter finished 4-for-4 with two extra base hits, six RBI and three runs scored to lead a 16-hit Brockport attack that jumped out to a 10-0 lead. Maeve Petitti also went 4-for-4, with a home run, five runs scored, four RBI and three stolen bases. Mariah Sagrafena, Hannah Kenney, and Olivia Zimmerman each collected two hits and scored two runs. Lilly Petitti and Estella Watt both chipped in a hit and a run scored. Carpenter nailed down the win from the circle, throwing a complete game with six strikeouts. For Gates-Chili, Annaliesse McGill finished with four hits, two runs scored, and three stolen bases. Hannah Brown was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Petra Hunt struck out seven without issuing a walk in a complete-game effort and added a home run. Gabby Lyons finished 2-for-3 with a home run. Julia Hunt singled and walked twice.

Carly Cegielski struck out seven over five innings of one-run ball and went 5-for-6 two home runs and seven RBI to lead Greece. Juliana Bates finished 4-for-6 with 5 RBI in the win. Deja Miller closed out the game with two innings of relief work.

NOTRE DAME-BATAVIA (10-2) 1

Leah Sperry struck out nine while allowing one run on three hits and two walks to pick up the complete-game victory. Katie Abbamonte finished 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI to lead the offense. Maddie Oleksyn singled, scored and drove in a run. Ava Verdi was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Natalie Casale accounted for three RBI and a run scored. Rowan Hennessy had an RBI and a run scored. Bella Mitrano had a a double. Annika VanDamme added an RBI. Loretta Sorochty went 2-for-3 and scored the lone Notre Dame-Batavia run. Mia Treleaven singled and drove in a run. ND-B had won 10 straight games heading into Monday’s contest.

Cam Crawford struck out 10 without issuing a walk and hurled a three-hitter to lead Wayne. Zoe Eaton connected on a two-run home run, and Myia Eskander was 2-for-3 with a double to lead the offense. Jae Welch drove in two with a double  and walked twice. Amarah Robinson was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and a run scored to lead SOTA. Ada Reddington was 1-for-3.

Kalli Meyer drove in four runs including a walk-off two-run home run as Marion/Gananda rallied to win its fourth straight game. Meyer 2-for-4 on the day. The walk-off winner capped a four-run seventh inning. Trailing 5-2, Amaya Hayes started the rally with a one-out singled. Bella Dirlam walked, and Addison Sturgis cut the deficit to two with a run-scoring double. Raegan Quigley followed with an RBI triple to set up Meyer for the game winner. Quigley went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and two runs scored. Dirlam walked twice and scored twice. Lydia McKay struck out eight in a complete-game effort to pick up the win. Rylee Richardson tripled, walked twice and scored twice for Lyons, Addison VanLare was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored for the Lions. Elise Wilkinson doubled and scored. Jayla Bell went 3-for-3. Taylor Keeley also scored for Lyons.

NORTH ROSE-WOLCOTT (8-4) 8

Genevieve VanDerBroek tripled and scored the go-ahead run before Juliet Bennett drove in a pair with a double as Sodus sent 12 to the plate in an eight-run fourth to pull away from a 3-3 game. VanDerBroek finished 3-for-5 with two triples and four RBI to lead the Sodus offense. Bennett was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Jessica Fisher doubled and drove in a run in the decisive inning as part of a 3-for-5 effort with three RBI and two runs scored. Jordyn Graham tripled and was 2-for-4 with a walk, three runs scored and an RBI. Kaitlyn Harper had two hits in four at-bats and scored two runs. Emma Burr and Giselle Santacruz both singled, drove in a run and scored three times. Izabella Lamark and Kylie Peters both crossed home once. North Rose-Wolcott’s Autumn Houghtaling went 4-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored. Peytin Westurn tripled twice as part of a 3-for-4 performance with three RBI. AJ McIntyre tripled, walked and scored three runs. Hailey Rose singled and drove in two.

Jessie Crye struck out 14 and hurled a 2-hitter to lead Avon. The sophomore also doubled, walked, drove in a run snd scored three times. Kyleigh DeRider doubled, walked, drove in a run and scored once. Kendra Gardner and Caroline Hayes both walked and scored. Sarah Dioguardi walked and had two RBI.

Emma Years struck out seven and hurled a five-hitter to lead Caledonia-Mumford. Colleen Talty went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run to pace the offense. Madison Wyskiel was 2-for-3. Mia Wilson doubled and scored. Perry’s Keira Weber had 13 strikeouts. Madelyn Monteleone and Jaelyn Morris both had doubles Isabella Zalewski was 2-for-3.

“Keira kept us off balance all day but we were able to scratch out one in the first and fourth,” said Cal-Mum head coach Dan Dickens via email. “Colleen had the big home run in the third for us. I thought Emma pitched a great game for us as well and we were able to make some nice plays.”

Abbie DeRock struck out nine in a one-hit performance as Letchworth scored in the first inning to grab a lead it did not surrender. Trinity Scott doubled and drove in two runs. Reagan Bannister and Abbie Bacon both finished 1-for-2 with an RBI. Aubrie Brown had a single. Grace Mitchell added an RBI. The win was the fifth straight for Letchworth.  Warsaw’s Maddy Schurr 1-for-3. Tanzie Keough had an RBI.

Ashlyn Wright struck out 11 and hurled a one-hitter as Bloomfield won its sxith straight. At the plate, the junior went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two walks, four RBI and a run scored. Calla McCombs was 4-for-4 with a double, an RBI and four runs scored. Brianna Leitten went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Abby O’Brien had two hits, two walks, two RBI and a run scored. Barbie Berrios singled, drove in a pair and scored twice. Marlee Poole drove in a run with a base hit and scored. Syd Falsone walked twice and scored twice.

Madison Westerberg finished 5-for-5 with two home runs and a double. The junior provided the walk-off winner with a one-out bunt single to score Haylee Beesley as Waterloo rallied from an 8-4 deficit to win its third straight game. Beesely went 2-for-5 with a double and three runs scored. Gwyn Panek went 3-for-5 with a double, triple, three runs scored and an RBI. Tangel Williams was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Kaitie Mattoon was 2-for-4 with a walk. Kendra Donnelly doubled. Olivia James hurled four shutout innings in relief to pick up the win. South Seneca/Romulus sophomore Ella Wellin doubled and scored twice. Vyvynn Powell was 2-for-4 with two runs scored as the Falcons led 8-4 after four innings.

Addie Kendall and Morgan Sutryk combined on a five-hit shutout as Dundee-Bradford won its sixth straight game. Kailey Yeoman finished 3-for-3 with a double, walk, three RBI and two runs scored out of the leadoff spot. Sutryk singled, walked and scored twice. Madison Sutryk was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Maddie Knapp walked twice and scored. Adalyn Tham singled, walked and drove in two runs. Honeoye’s Ashley Thomas and Ava Higgins both finished 2-for-3 at the plate.

Sophomore catcher Brooke Rodas finished 3-for-5 with a home run, and four RBI to lead Kendall. Eighth grader Isabella D’Agostino went 3-for-6 with two RBI in the win. Junior Maggie Zastrow was 2-for-4 with four RBI. Senior Danielle Offhaus threw a 4-hitter with four strikeouts to earn the win. Eighth grader Teagan Shaw was 2-for-2 with three walks to go along with three RBI. Junior Ella Christ, Senior Makaila Abrams, Senior Gracie Robb, and Freshman Sophia Picardo all added a hit apiece. Byron Bergen’s Lauren Gartz went 2-for-2 with a double, walk, and an RBI. 

GENESEE VALLEY-BELFAST (9-5) 2

Preslee Miller finished 3-for-5 with a double and five RBI while Mylee Miller was 2-for-4 with a double, walk, three RBI and two runs scored to lead Fillmore. Oakley Frazier was 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored in the game that saw Fillmore score six runs in the third inning to take an 11-0 lead. Mattie McCumiskey singled, walked twice, drove in a run and scored two more. Chloe Wolfe was 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Tenlee Miller accounted for a hit, an RBI and two runs scored. Kylee Ellsworth was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Emma Carlton connected on a one-out triple and eventually scored the winning run for Avoca-Prattsburgh. Lily Hausauer walked and scored in the eighth. Carlton reached base three times in the win and scored each time. The senior also had an RBI. Meyah Putnam was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and four runs scored. Payton Hopkins singled and scored. Ellie Harrell drove in two with a double and scored twice. Brooke VanSkiver doubled, walked and scored twice.
