Ten teams. Five games. And one important cause.
The Inaugural Strike Out Lou Gehrig’s Disease Baseball Classic will take place this Saturday, April 20th at Honeoye Falls-Lima Middle School.
Starting with a 10:00 AM first pitch the host Cougars will take on Eastridge to start the day. Pittsford Mendon against Pittsford Sutherland will follow before East High faces Bishop Kearney, Wilson takes on School of the Arts while McQuaid and Aquinas will finish the day.
Lou Gehrig’s farewell speech on July 4th, 1939 introduced a nation to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), the disease which is now commonly known by the Yankee hall-of-famer’s name. For the past 15 years, the ALS Association has hosted a classic in Syracuse. This Saturday will mark an expansion to Rochester.
Saturday’s event will help raise awareness of ALS and help inform the community as to how individuals can help join the fight against this crippling disease and will honor longtime Rochester City School District Athletic Director, Joe LaPietra who has been battling ALS for three years. Proceeds from the event will go to Joe’s family and help in the purchase of a wheelchair accessible van.
Donations from the Syracuse tournament have helped support over 395 Central New York families who are impacted by ALS and provide access to accredited ALS clinics, support groups, equipment loans, grant resources, caregiver respite, and more.
Fans can donate at the event of mail a check to:

ALS Formula treatment from Aknni herbs centre, It has made a tremendous difference for me (Visit ww w. aknniherbscentre.c om). I had improved walking balance, increased appetite, muscle strength,
Last year, my 68-year-old partner was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease also known as ALS. Speaking and swallowing were two of his challenges. His collapse was swift and catastrophic, and neither the riluzole nor the medical staff did much to aid him. He would not have survived if our primary care physician hadn’t given him attentive care and attention, as the hospital center didn’t provide any psychological support. His fall was abrupt and catastrophic. His hands and legs gave way to weakness in his arms. This year our family physician suggested using natural herbs centre for ALS/MND treatment, which my husband has been receiving for a few months now. I’m delighted to say that the treatment greatly reduced and reversed his symptoms of ALS, he no longer requires a feeding tube, sleeps soundly, works out frequently, and is now very active. In the hopes that it could be useful, I thought I would relate my husband’s tale; in the end, you have to do what suits you the best.
