Saint Louis University announced that it has parted ways with head men’s basketball coach Travis Ford.
“For eight years, Travis led our men’s basketball program with passion and dignity,” SLU Director of Athletics Chris May said. “This decision was not made lightly.”
“It is our expectation to regularly compete for conference championships and play in the NCAA Tournament,” May said. “Unfortunately, we have not met these expectations the last several years. We thank Travis for his dedication to SLU and wish him the best in the future.”
Ford was 146-109 in eight seasons with the Billikens. SLU made the NCAA Tournament in 2019 after winning the A-10 Tournament Championship, and the Billikens went to the NIT in 2021 and 2022.
This season, SLU finished 13-20 overall and 5-13 in the A-10. They were eliminated by Duquesne, Wednesday in the second round of the A-10 tournament in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Ford previously served as head coach at Oklahoma State, UMass and Eastern Kentucky.
He played collegiately at Missouri and at Kentucky. He helped the Wildcats to three NCAA Tournament appearances under then coach Rick Pitino.
