Jack Leasure Shooting and Skills Camp Championship Preview: Bloomfield and Dundee/Bradford to clash for spot in regional

Finger Lakes West rivals will tangle for the third time. This meeting will decide Section V’s representative in the New York State Class C Girls’ Far West Regional. Bloomfield and Dundee/Bradford tip-off Tuesday night. Here’s the breakdown:

BLOOMFIELD BOMBERS (22-2/Finger Lakes West)

DUNDEE/BRADFORD BRAVESCOTS (22-1/Finger Lakes West)
Tuesday, 6:30 PM — Marcus Whitman HS

Scoring offense: Bloomfield (62.0 PPG), Dundee/Bradford (63.0 PPG)

Scoring defense: Bloomfield (31.2 PPG), Dundee/Bradford (29.0 PPG)

Current streak: Bloomfield has won 15 straight. Dundee/Bradford enters play on a seven-game win streak. The BraveScots have won 19 of 22 games by double-digits.

How they arrived here: Bloomfield defeated Clyde-Savannah, 83-48, in the first round of the postseason before downing Pembroke, 68-23, in the quarterfinals, Lyons, 56-55, in the semis and East Rochester, 49-39 in the Class C1 championship game. Dundee/Bradford defeated Naples 77-17, Caledonia-Mumford 50-42 and Keshequa 51-47 to claim the C2 title.

Last time they met: The two teams split a pair of regular season games with both defending home court. Dundee/Bradford took a 63-50 decision on December 21st. Bloomfield avenged that setback with a 55-47 win on February 1st. At that time, Dundee/Bradford was the only unbeaten team remaining in Section V Girls’ Basketball.

History 101: Coming off its 13th sectional title in program history, Bloomfield is looking to make its first regional appearance since 2007 when the Bombers advanced to the NYS Class C title game. The Bombers won back-to-back NYS Class C titles in 1999 and 2000. Dundee/Bradford is looking to make its first trip to regionals as a merged program.

What’s next: The winner will play Section VI champion Frewsburg (20-3) in the New York State Class C Far West Regional.
