Livingston County Athletic Association meets Finger Lakes East for a spot in the state quarterfinals. Avon and Mynderse tip-off Tuesday night, both looking to extend the season. Here’s the breakdown:
AVON BRAVES (22-1/Livingston County Division II)

Tuesday, 6:30 PM at Canandaigua Academy
Scoring offense: Avon (64.0 PPG), Mynderse (62.2 PPG)
Scoring defense: Avon (48.0 PPG), Mynderse (55.6 PPG)
Current streak: Avon enters on a 10-game winning streak with the Braves lone loss this season coming to Class C1 champion, Lyons. Mynderse has won four straight games.
How they arrived here: Top-seeded Avon opened the postseason with an 81-37 victory over No. 8 Addison before rallying past No. 5 Le Roy, 68-64 in overtime. The Braves defeated Marcus Whitman, 69-47 for their fourth sectional title in five years. Mynderse started sectionals with a 78-37 win over No. 10 Midlakes and followed with a 61-49 win over No. 3 World of Inquiry to reach the title game. The Blue Devils claimed their 10th title in program history with a 68-59 win over Hornell.

History 101: Avon, which won its fourth sectional title in five seasons, is looking to reach the state quarterfinals for the second time during that stretch. The Braves advanced to regional in 2022. Avon won sectional titles in 2020 and 2021, but the state tournament was cancelled both years due to precautions surrounding COVID-19. The Braves also reached in the final eight in 2009 when they went on to win the NYS Class C title. Mynderse is looking to make its sixth regional appearance and first since 2017. The Blue Devils won the 1992 NYS Class C championship.
What’s next: The winner will face either Salamanca or Falconer in the New York State Far West Regional, Saturday at Buffalo State College.
A 6:30 PM tip-off is scheduled Tuesday at Canandaigua Academy.
