PITTSFORD, N.Y. — Harlan Novy-Marx finished with a double-double and Tyler Knapp connected on five 3-pointers as host Harley-Allendale-Columbia boys’ basketball defeated Naples, 65-38, Thursday.
The win was the second straight and sixth in the past seven for the Wolves (14-3) who swept the regular season series from their Finger Lakes West rival.
“We had an unfortunate bout of sickness last week, so we’re just trying to get the train back on the tracks and playing good basketball together as a team,” said first-year HAC head coach Garrison Knapp whose team fell to Honeoye, 68-51 on January 31st.
Novy-Marx scored eight of his game-high 21 points in the first quarter when HAC jumped out to a 19-7 lead.
“Biggest concern right now is building good habits,” Knapp said. “When we’re deep in sectional play and playing some really well-coached teams, you have the habits that you need to win.”
Novy-Marx connected three times from the floor and converted on a pair of free throws during the opening eight minutes. Tyler Knapp hit from distance three times and scored 11 of his 17 points in the first frame.

HAC took a 33-16 lead into halftime and stretched the advantage to 20 at 40-20 when James Dorsey finished in traffic midway through the third quarter.
“We’re getting there,” said Knapp whose team topped the 60-point mark for the ninth time this season. “We’re not there yet. We’re trying to get eight, nine guys strong. No matter what you do, contribute. That’s all we’re trying to preach to the guys. Don’t worry about if you’re scoring or not. What are you doing to contribute positively?”
Novy-Marx finished with 15 rebounds, five steals and two assists. Tyler Knapp had two assists and two steals.
Ryan D’Arduini added six points, six assists and 10 deflections in the win. Dorsey had six points, three rebounds, three blocks and two steals.
Matthew Lincoln led Naples (4-14) with 11 points. Maddox Mannella accounted for 10 points while Hayden Liddiard had six.
HAC hosts Penn Yan on Saturday for a 1:00 PM tipoff.
Naples travels to Wayland-Cohocton on Monday for a 6:00 PM start.
